Can you say Governor John Grisham? I bet you guys are jealous!
Mississippi Dems are considering John Grisham for their next candidate--he will face off against pigboy Haley Barbour and win.

I adore John Grisham...anyone else here a fan of his?

14. in Clinton's memoirs
He fondly recalls when he was 5 and his Great-Grandfather Grisham coming to see him in the hospital.

Of course, Grisham himself was in the Mississippi State Legislature when he wrote "A Time To Kill".

I think this is exciting if it comes to pass!

5. Three years, if Barbour isn't physically removed from office first.
He took 65,000 people off medicaid -- goes into effect in September. He won't win reelection.

15. He'll massacre Barbour.
I am SOOO anticipating this. Barbour is close to being rode out on the rails anyway.

Which is good for the Dem party. I hope that Barbour removing so many people from medicaid will have a huge impact on the presidential election.

:-)

13. I love John Grisham!
I'm thrilled to hear that he may run for governor of Mississippi! Maybe he'll be able to turn the red state around. I've got a cousin living in Mississippi for the past 10 years; from what I hear from her, the state could use a healthy dose of common sense leadership. I'm thrilled (&, yes, jealous)!

17. Actually, on the local and state level, mississippi has been very
Democratic, until this last election--last year.

Musgrove was a great governor who was entrapped by the "rebel flag" issue.

We shall see...don't count us out yet, even on the national level. Polls being conducted are not considering people who can't pay for life-saving medications, much less phones, to respond to the pollers. There are lots of impoverished people who don't have phones who have NEVER been politically active who will turn out at the polls for Kerry in November. :-)

28. Have you read all of them?
To me, it seems silly that if you don't like an author after reading 1 or 2 of his books, to assess ALL of them as crappy is rather prejudicial. If I didn't like an author after reading just a few, I would leave it at that - I didn't like the ones I read.

How about you sit down and write a few novels and we will let you know if your opinion has merit?

31. Matter of fact I have written some novels
Unpublished because they sucked.

I read two of Grisham's suck-a-thons (including "The Firm" which most people say is his best). I will no longer submit myself to such torture.

BTW, I am definitely not a literary snob. I do not really like the "serious" American authors very much. I have my favs, but for fun I mostly read mysteries. I read a fair amount of history, too.

32. well, I know I am right
I had you pegged as a "2-and-outer". I have no problem with your opinion, just your reach. I tend to only judge the books I have read, and although I may SUSPECT the remainder of an author's oeuvre sucks, I will hold off from saying it as a given.

I found the one Stephen King novel I read to be boring, and I am willing to risk that I would probably not like the countless other books he has written. You gave Grisham one more chance than I did King, and are making the same assessment. Still, I won't say all of King's books suck, but am comfortable with never knowing if I was wrong. Plenty of books out there for everyone.
