3. Haha!
That's the first team I thought of.

I'm also hoping that Americans will get to see how hated we've become in the world as a result of the Chimp's actions. Just.. please.. no violence.

14. try the wine bread relay
We Catholics are great at that. Go Vatican!
Actually honestly, I'll probably go for the Irish, Germans, Slovaks, and Slovenes, and maybe the Russians, but theres still no proof I am part Russian so only those 4 which if you get my inference I am descended from.

10. Anyone with "USA" on their uniform...
Provided they HAVEN'T tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.:eyes:

This year, particularly--because of Dub's treachery--most of the world will be pulling against us as never before. How often is it that American athletes are admonished by the USOC not to wave American flags after winning medals? We can thank Dub, as well as Grumpy Rummy and all his Neo-Con henchmen--for causing the conditions for THAT circumstance, too!

B-)

13. It depends on the event.
I typically root for whichever country isn't dominate in that particular event. I love it when the underdog pulls through.

21. me too
I went to the Olympics in Atlanta. I loved it. I could only afford the cheaper tickets so I got see things like team handball and the Slovenian volleball team but it was still fun. My favorite part was the rowing competition. The Italians had a particularly strong entry in one race (can't remember which) and there were many Italian fans in the stands. One enthusiastic gentleman starting yelling "Italia, italia" and pretty soon the whole crowd joined in, whatever their nationalities. It was fun and so much better to see things live without all the jinogistic commentary from the announcers. The coverage on TV is usually skewed toward Americans in any competition, which is a shame.

20. I just want the US basketball team to lose . . .
putting a bunch of millionaire pros on the court somehow doesn't quite reflect the Olympic spirit . . . and the fact that others may do too it doesn't make it any better . . . I hope the "dream team" gets their collective ass handed to them, preferably by some country no one's ever even heard of . . . that will make my day . . .

22. Kind of shocked
I root for the USA no matter what. Yes, it'll be interesting to see if the basketball team can win. Otherwise, regardless of politics, always root for the home team.

Just my opinion...

23. All of them
Unlike soccer's world cup or other truly international competitions, the Games are the only international competition I watch where I don't have a special desire to see a particular country win.In spite of all the crass commercialism, many of the events are still about the abilities of the individuals.

I love watching the athletes from the non-superpower nations lift a medal...the Kenyan runners for instance.

This year though, I would like to see Iraqui athletes do well as I think their attendance and performance might be good for the people of Iraq.

I hope and pray that all of the wingnuts in the world can put aside their differences and let the games go on without incident, to either the athletes or the spectators.

28. Go Russia!!!
I must say I will be cheering most heartily for Russia. Also Poland, I think, and I would like to see Israel do well.
Another thing I am looking forward to is a rather unusual football (soccer) match: Portugal vs. Iraq. Although I really like watching Portugal (and especially the wonderful Cristiano Ronaldo), I admit I'll be rooting for Iraq...SOMETHING good has to happen to that poor country.
OMG can you imagine a US-Iraq football match?!?!?!?!
