Just Saved $100.00 On Sleeping Meds!
Instead of shelling out $10.00 to $15.00 per ounce of Tinctured Valerian, I just decanted my home made stuff. Out of 6 oz 188 proof alcohol, 6 oz distilled water, 2 oz Valerian root and 1 oz Chamomile
I got 10 oz of tincture (now in sterile bottles in my regrigerator) *and* about 5 oz sweet fluffy chamomile-valerian smoking mixture for my pipe!

If I knew how to obtain the correct breed of poppy, I'd make syrup of poppies as well. I'm looking into other interesting things to put up.

1. Papaver Sominiferum: The Poppy
It's actually legal to own and grow poppies. Extracting opium isn't too easy to do and I don't think any junkies have ever been known to try doing it.

2. I actually know someone who makes his own laudanum
He says its actually quite easy and I have no reason to doubt him, as I've tried his creation myself. Not really my thing, though. Makes me way too sleepy. ;-)

3. I Have A recipe In my great great great grandfather's book
He was a carpenter, a writer and a "yarb healer" in Pennsylvania before the Civil War. The old medical book has a few of his old "receets" (recipes) in it and more printed by the book's author. It was printed in 1836. It's where I got my tincture formula from.

And yes, I know that some of the things therein are dangerous! I won't use white lead or fulminate of murcury or anything I haven't done more modern research on.

The gook is a GREAT inheritance! It has a full index, page by page, subject by subject... and nowhere is any terminology like "germ" "bacteria" "communicable"! Diseases are caused by imbalances of humors, stagnation of the vessels, bad air!

Sometimes I love to just sit and read it for the joy of discovery.

4. no way. Heroin poppies are NOT legal.
learned this both as a gardener and a criminal defense paralegal. Plus getting past the very toxic latex is difficult.

5. a great concoction I brew up for sleep is:
equal parts dried hops, catnip, passionflower and valerian root. It is also good for coughs. You can add chamomile if the taste is too bitter/stinky.

There is a very real possibility that some might actually attempt to abuse/misuse information that has the very real potential of causing harm or death to individuals.

I hope you understand the implications involved.
