It's a gospel box set released late last year on Lance Leadbetter's Dust to Digital records. It's absolutely fucking incredible. Lance (no relation, as far as I know) put so much research and care into this set that it's just sick.
It doesn't matter if you're right with God or not (like me :P), if you like GOOD MUSIC, you will love this set.
It is beautifully packaged -- in an etched wooden box, a gorgeous booklet, 6 CDs whose sleeves can be arranged into a cotton branch cross, all packed tight with raw fresh-picked cotton.
It contains sacred music (and sermons, on disc 6) recorded between the late '20s and the early '50s. Much like the Harry Smith anthology, if you're into American music AT ALL (including rock 'n' roll), you will recognize songs in this set.
Best thing about it? It's only $100. You'll be lucky to get a 6 CD COMMERCIAL set fo $100, let alone a beautifully packaged artisan set. Check it out at
http://www.dust-digital.com.That's the end of my free advertising. If I can make Lance a few bucks off of this post, I am happy (please let me know via post or PM if you place an order, to sate my curiosity).
