Favorite phrase? I think mine is "beneath contempt"
but then, I have a bad attitude towards life. Funny, I don't remember thinking of this phrase nearly so much before late 2000, early 2001; wonder why that might be?

1. I like ONWARD AND UPWARD.
I have a friend who always says that and I like how it kinda keeps my eyes on the prize.

4. I First Heard "Beneath Contempt" Spoken By Norma Shearer In "The Women"
Her character, Mary Haines, was having a discussion with her mother (Lucille Watson) about how things were "different" for women now.

After Mary discovers that her husband, Steven, is having an affair with a department store clerk (Joan Crawford) she confides in her mother and seeks consolation and advice from her. Mary's mother suggests that the best course of action is for Mary to keep quiet about what she knows. and not to confront her husband.

"Keep still when you're fairly aching to talk!" she advises. "It's about the only sacrifice we grown women have to make to keep our men."

Mary didn't like the advice and argued to her mother that women are no longer chattel and do as they are told... "this is today!" she exclaimed... "and women who do such things are just beneath contempt, that's all! I won't be one of them. Not ever!"

6. I always like a good revolutionary slogan
such as "Forward to the future!" or "Citizens, unite against injustice!" or stuff like that. The stuff that sounds best shouted from atop a soapbox!! PEACE NOW!!!

PEACE FREEDOM AND EQUALITY
