Yes I am very new. Not sure how I found DU but am very glad I did. I was just searching around one day going from link to link. I never much dappled in politics. Of course I voted in the majors but I think during the last pres election something finally snapped. I have spent 3.5 years complaining about * (by the way I love that, the * instead if the name) complaining to family, friends, co-workers basically anyone who would listen. I lurked for some time, trying to get up the guts to register and post. Finally did about a week age after attending a Kerry/Edwards rally in Scranton, PA. It was very motivating. And yes I did feel that "Hope is on the way" Still a little hesitant about chiming in, but I'm taking is slow. It's great to be part of your little community.

11. I'm relativley new....

I'm a college student attending the University of South Carolina, generally a bastion of conservatism. I'm a bit further to the left than many of my fellow students, but somewhat to the right of the oft maligned "hippies" As a history major I have watched the last 3 1/2 years with horror and found myself watching the news in grim fascination as America essentially fell apart and stopped standing for the things I had always been taught it did. Finally the bleating of the Republican Sheep around me pushed me fairly in the democratic camp, only if i tell anyone I may be lynched. I've enjoyed posting here a few times and read this site religiously while at work. I radio dispatch for SC's Game Warden's so most nights are quite. Thanks for the welcome

I don't agree with a lot of what you said but hey, that's your opinion and this is mine.

At times, it was one-sided but hey, wasn't that the point?

I found a lot of the parts about Shrub's family involvement with the Arabs to be disturbing, some of the things, I never knew before.

The movie, imo, was amazing. I lauhged, I cried, I got pissed off.

Those are things that great movies do to people, so it that repect, the film worked for me.

I did feel that at times, the film, was a bit wordy but that's the tradition of a documentary. I would like to see it again just so I can take everything in and make sure I didn't miss anything.

At any rate, your thread also worked because like the film, it stirred people's emotions. Good work.

It's never a good idea to start a F911 thread without a flame-retardant suit on. :-) For the most part, DUers were respectful of you, even when they disagreed with you. You handled yourself very well, though, and I hope you took to heart some of the really good posts in that thread.

I wouldn't take it personally... that's one helluva controversial subject you brought up, and many DUers (self included) hold that film very near to our hearts. The posters in that thread don't hate you, they just are a little baffled that you didn't love it as much as many of us.

I do hope you'll continue to post, and I think you're doing a great job. Good luck at college in the fall, have a great time, learn a lot, study hard, and check in with us from time to time, ok?

I followed a link here from a Disney board of all places....a fairly conservative board by the way. I have learned so much from this place. Much of what I have learned I have passed on.....always looking for a convert :-)

Some days after arguing with conservatives, or a bad news day, it just feels so good to come here and feel the enthusiasm of others. It is almost impossible not to be optimistic after reading a few threads. At the very least, I stop feeling so alone.

I get the bulk of my news here now. And I love it when a bunch of people are all watching the same show and posting as it evolves.

My name is Dawn. I'm 34, and just about finished with a Master's degree in early childhood development. I come from a huge RW family (I have five brothers and well over two dozen nieces and nephews) -- and I'm the only liberal. My favorite brother isn't talking to me because I wouldn't sign his petition in support of the FMA. :cry:

I found DU one day about five months or so ago. I was taking a road trip with one of my brothers. He insisted on listening to Limpballs. I insisted on NOT listening to Limpballs. We compromised on 1 hour of Limpballs and then 1 hour of my choice of radio stations. He was mocking "Democrat Underground." Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I figured, so I got on the web next chance I got!

I lurked for a long time, frankly because all the flame wars and controversies that seem to erupt from time to time scared me. But I'm glad I'm here and am looking forward to celebrating with you all on November 2nd!!

Hi. I'm Eddie. You'll never guess what state I live in, hah?? My first vote in a Presidential election was for George McGovern.

I don't remember how I got here; it might have been a link from a blog, or I might have been led here on a Google search.

I've tried in the last couple of years to revisit my values, to see what I've learned, what I believe in instead of just accepting. 9/11 had the effect of driving me back toward history, trying to understand how America got here from the days of Jonathan Edwards.

There's too much despair around -- including among people who, let's face it, shouldn't have a lot to despair about. The numbers are also increasing amongst those who really do have it bad off. The Right wingers have done their job; they've sown blame and mistrust wherever they go. The liberals do a better job of running the country.

I heard mention in another forum of "DU" and wondered what it was. I googled "DU forum messageboard" and sure enough this came up so here I am :bounce:

I'm a 35....well heck I might as well say 36 year old (since I will be in 12 days) human service worker. I have two full-time jobs, one with people who have developmental disabilities and one with people who have mental health needs. I have a BS in Psychology and plan to get a Masters in Library Science so I can become a librarian someday since I love reading and books so much.

After four years of our country being run into the ground by a bush and a dick, I hope like heck that enough people have enough sense to vote for Kerry :kick:

Needless to say, I was hooked from day one xD.

After a few weeks, I wandered over to the message board and was shocked by just how fast it was (in the reply sense). I figured "What the hell? I can only learn from the experience" and here I am.

My parents weren't very in to politics when I was growing up (and still kinda aren't) so, I'm a bit of a late bloomer to the political scene. (23 is late, I guess)
