I was a huge Rick James fan back in the day, even saw him in concert when Prince was touring w/him.
My favorite song has to be Fire and Desire with Teena Marie. That song can definitely set a mood!

4. I was there for that tour with Prince as the opening act.

I went to see Prince who had just released his second album. I left half way into Rick James - definitely not a fan. Prince kicked major ass though.

his own. Then the resurgence that Hammer (then M.C. Hammer) created. Then the one that Dave Chapelle created. I have to admit that although I'm aware of the incident that put Rick James in prison, the depiction on the Chapelle Show did make me more sympathetic to Rick James. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I've uttered the words, "I'm Rick James Bitch!" more than once.
