11. Ah, yes! 1965! One of the most memorable yrs of music for me!
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 03:41 PM by notmyprez
In 1965, I was 10 years old and I had just started getting serously into music. Walked around with a transistor radio practically glued to my ear. Watched all the music shows on TV. I remember the songs from that year very, very well. Of course, since I was only 10, most of the songs I remember from that time are the Top 40-type hits, but back then, there was a lot of good rock'n'roll in the Top 40.

1965 was alwsys one of my best years for music trivia (the simpler trivia, more relating to what year the song came out). When I started reading your list, I knew certain songs would be there: "Lies," "Liar, Liar," "Rescue Me," "Satisfaction," and on and on. I associate all of those with 1965. I forgot about Ian Whitcomb--thanks for reminding me, I really liked him. I remember James Brown's dancing; he used to be on a lot of those music shows. There was one show I used to watch, late afternoon; I loved it but can't remember the name of it. "The Lloyd Thaxton Show," maybe? Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Man, thanks for that list. It really brings me back, to much simpler times.

13. The bass intro to 'Ain't That Peculiar' is burned into my brain
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 05:51 PM by jpgray
I'd kick the Beatles rip-off Knickerbockers off there and put up Barry and the Remains, myself. Sure they're one of the classier Beatles ripoffs, but Christ, the lead singer of that band all but kills himself trying to imitate Lennon's voice.
