Any car stereo nuts in the Lounge today?
A friend let me have (he bought some newer Pioneer thing last week) his Sony CDX-M600 CD/Reciever and I can't find on-line installation help!

I've installed dozens of recievers before but this one has special Japanese car instructions for Nissans & Hondas but nothing about the Subaru Outback so I'm a little hesitant to just rip out the existing reciever without consultation.

Well? Any car stereo gurus?

1. Best Suggestion?
Check around to see if you can get a wiring diagram for the Subaru and work backwards to see if anything special is needed. The Public Library (in my area anyway) is a good source for information.

2. Check this, JM
Crutchfield has a car-specific install guide you can find here:

Hope it helps...

3. A friend of mine is an installer...
...and he says Subarus are the most difficult vehicle to install in. They're so bad, that if he sees one on the incoming shop list, he'll take the day off or switch locations.

Sorry, that's not much help, except it suggests that you're not at fault.

5. Ooooh! Look you borderline Commie, it's a great reciever!
The only reason he switched was so he could listen to Mp3's!
