I'm sick of cat threads, let's do a CAR thread!
Do you have a car? Do you like your car? What cars do you like?
Can you post a picture of your car?

My car looks like this, except it's white and has rusty rear fenders.

1. My car looks like this
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 04:49 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
except it's light blue and one year newer than this model and not as shiny and clean as this:

By the way, I have a cat. Her name is Clarissa Marie. She is sitting right here, meowing at me.

And if so, what models are you looking at?

Anything out there that catches your fancy?

7. Not anytime soon
as she is paid for and has 86,000 miles on her. I am going to drive it until the wheels fall off, the body rusts out and it won't go an inch further. Why? Because I love not having a car payment and it is really reliable.

After that, I fully intend on buying something either hybrid of completely alternatively fueled. We're talking eight to ten years from now. Who knows what will be out there by then? (Please have alternatively fueled cars by then! Please!)

6. I wish they still made those Civic hatchbacks
The new si is too expensive, and a hatchback would be much more practical than a coupe.

My car is a 2000, the last year they made them. The SI is hot, but they don't make it with an auto trans. I don't stick shifts.

I plan on keepin' that bad boy for a LONG time.

BTW - love your Civic. My dad had a 1980 Accord 5-speed that I learned to drive on, and my family still has two Hondas. They run forever.

I got the "John Kerry", "Proud to be a Democrat" and "Anybody but Bush" stickers at my County Assembly in May.

"McFayden" is Buffie McFayden - she's running for re-election as my representative to teh State Legislature.

"Salazar" is John Salazar - he's runing to replace Scott McPinhead in Colorado's 3rd Conressional District. His brother Ken is Colorado's Attorney General, and is running for the Senate to replace Ben(edict Arnold) Nightmare Campbell.

KDZA is the local oldies station - they're owned by Clear Channel, but I like the music......

22. I love cars almost as much
as I love cats, so ...

Though my car is nicely practical -- it's a '99 RAV4 I bought used for well under the list, and it's paid for -- it's not especially exciting. Gets good mileage, carries a lot of groceries or home improvement supplies or animals. You see, some jerk rear-ended us in the 1993 MX3-GS I had, which I dearly loved, and his insurance company decided it was totaled, and they'd only fix it if we took a salvage title (we weren't willing to do that). I cried and then got practical. The RAV is great for what we need it for, and it gets 25 mpg reliably.

Mr. Nownow currently is squeezing the last drops out of a '95 Saturn, he's looking at a new Mazda 3. Might get a little fun out of that one, at least.

If we could talk ourselves out of being practical, we'd buy a '67 or '68 Camaro like we've both wanted since we were kids, but we're not old enough to indulge ourselves on that score, yet. Maybe we'll buy a car to 'play with' once we retire, I don't know. It's just so nice not having to fill the tank every other day, especially now, and gas ain't going back down, I don't think.

The lack of a Lincoln coupe is just inexcusable. And the same platform provided the Thunderbird and Cougar, which were nice cars for people who wanted 8 cylinders, but not a mustang or SUV.

37. It's sad

By '98, the last year of the Mk VIII, the sales had dropped off because everyone started wanting luxury SUV's, so they dropped them in favor of the Navigator. I just don't know what the "wise guys" are going to drive now, the Lincoln Marks were always the preferred mobster ride.

38. Whodathunk that huge high 4-Door Wagons would kill off the 2-door coupe?
I could understand it if they had replaced the Mark VIII with someting like the Current Lincoln LS. I can see people choosing a small 4 door over a coupe, but the idea of replacing a 2 door luxury coupe with a gargantuan family hauler just seems weird. It is like picking a minivan over a miata for stylistic purposes. two totally different cars with different roles.

A glorified station wagon is all these big SUV's are. Just a marketing ploy to make guys think they'r cool,I guess.

When I wanted a truck, I bought a TRUCK. This isn't the actual pic, but it's spittin' identical to my other ride. I don't drive it as much as the car these days.

Yeah, it's a wagon, so there's nothing sexy about it. But, I love it. AWD is awesome. It's also the anniversary edition, so it has cool stuff like leather wrapped steering wheel, wood panel console, two moon roofs, etc. I got a good deal because Subarus aren't popular around here.

It is a Red Subaru Legacy outback sport. It isn't a full wagon, and it sure is nice to drive. The best part is how it handles. I've been able to dodge SUVs driven by half awake people on their way to work. I love the AWD. Like this, except it is Red.

71. If I could get away with it, I wouldn't have a car.
Talk about an inefficient way to get around, in terms of time, energy, and especially expense. I don't know how we got ourselves in this fix where everyone must have a car to survive, but, damn, what fix it is.

Ugh.

72. Funny...
Because I'm a contractor, I work in a different location almost every day, and I have to bring lots of stuff with me to work. That and the hours I work make taking public transit nearly impossible. But last year, I ended up working at the same location for four weeks, and it was right on the Vancouver SkyTrain route. It was so convenient to just jump on the train for two bucks each way, and take 20 minutes getting to where I was working, instead of over an hour, plus finding parking, etc, etc, etc.... It was luxury!

I don't know why more people wo CAN take public transit don't do so.

I do like to drive, but if I had my way, it would only be for pleasure.

73. Yeah...
I admit to enjoying a "Sunday drive," and I love road trip vacations, too. But for general commuting, I'd prefer to bicycle or use mass transit. OK, so that second sentence was redundant.

Ah, it's time for bed.

79. 2002 Hyundai Accent
GL 4 door... it's ok... one more year and I can trade it in... really like the Scion Xa's. "IF" I had unlimited financial resources though, I would be tooling around town in a '59 Lincoln Convertible. Wasteful, yes... hot damn beautiful... nothing like being behind the wheel of a 5000 pound monster... My favorite car was my 76 Mercury Grand Marquis Brogham. She was a monster too... but ohhhhh, what a drive...

82. I want a Mazda6 wagon BAD but can't afford it
Mazda, Nissan, and Volkswagon are the only manufacturers willing to cater to American buyers who want a mid-sized car with a reasonably powerful engine AND a manual transmission. Everyone else seems to think anyone who's willing to spend extra for more power wants a an automatic transmission too.

Except Volkswagons midsize (Passat) engines aren't all that powerful.

84. Doesn't Honda offer manual transmission Accords?
But I think that is only for the 4 cylinder models.
If you could get the accord V-6 with a stick that would be something.
