College football gets started for real tomorrow!
So who are you going to be rooting for?

Bama. We're on our third coach since the last game. We're on probation. But we've got one hell of a great bunch of players. And I think this Shula guy might know something about football.

I'll also root for Auburn against USC. I want Auburn to go undefeated until the Tide upsets them and ruins their national title dreams.

Roll Tide!

1. Syracuse
I know, they had a terrible year last year (the basketball team more than made up for it though) but I'm thinking they'll get it together this year. At least 6-6, maybe a crappy bowl.

3. "The basketball team more than made up for it"
What an understatement. 'Cuse had a great year in hoops. Congratulations. I remember in 1999 when OSU made the Final Four - it was like a dream come true. But winning it all? As a Buckeye fan, I know the feeling in football. It's so great. I think the Orange football team this year just might be better than you think it will be. Just a feeling.

9. Yeah, and it was our first ever too.
Really glad that Coach Boeheim was able to win it all, he's been so great for Syracuse his whole 25+ year career. And the football team does have a lot of experience returning this year, and if R.J. Anderson (the QB) has a year like he did two years ago, we'll be pretty well off.

2. Didn't a Shula once coach my Bengals?
It's not the same one, is it? Hell, the Bengals fired that clown. For Alabama's sake, I hope it's a different Shula.

As for me, and you already knew this, I'm a Buckeye through and through.

Good luck to all the teams that DUers root for. Even Buckeye opponents.

6. yeah it was his brother
Mike Shula is the Bama coach. He's the prodigal son, he qb'ed the team right after Bear Bryant retired.

I rooted for the Buckeyes in the championship game last year. I hate Miami (sorry Miami fans) and I have some great family members in Ohio. Plus Woody Hayes was great.

Who's State play tomorrow?

8. Washington.
I think there is a whole Bear Bryant/Woody Hayes similarity. Most OSU fans kinda like Bama, and maybe vice versa.

10. I think you're right
Except once, when I was little, after Bama beat Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl, and me and my mom were driving through Cincinnati with a bama bumper sticker. We got kinda a rude reception. But you probably would've gotten the same if the roles were reversed. :)

13. Yeah and sadly
You're going to kick our ass. We lost our head coach a few months ago, we're coming off a bad year, and so naturally we'll start against the defending champs. Oh well, anythings possible, so I'll still watch tomorrow.

He failed somewhere else in the pro's. The good news is for Bama fans is that some coaches that fail in the pro's turn out to be good college coaches.

11. Watch out for Tennessee
they should be good this year if they can avoid the type of injuries that ruined them last season.

14. yep
I was really relieved to get a win over them last year, for the first time in what seven years? We used to dominate the Vols, but the tables have been turned in recent years.

dagnabit That's for people who expect southerners to say stuff like that. :)

21. They gonna choke to Florida again?
Man why do they lose to them all the time? Hell they got a better team than Florida does most of the time. I love it when I lose because my cousin's are UT fans and so are some wanna be southerners where I live. That trader Munoz isn't worth the sweat on my balls.

I was visiting some of my family members and I watched the local news and all they talked about was the UT football team and Girls Basketball team. That was in July too.

16. WVU, baby.
The mountaineers are playing 20th ranked Wisonsin tomorrow, so its going to be rough.

But our running game with Quincy Wilson(who is even faster, and stronger than Avon Cobourne)should be able to control the pace of the game. :)

26. The teams I'm betting on.
About to leave to catch the 7am flight to Vegas. Working out the final details of the parlays on the plane then straight to the sportsbook upon landing. Hopefully, the spreads at the casino will be in line with the research I've done.

UCLA is my team, they don't open until next week. But I'm more of a fan at large, watching all teams and conferences on my GamePlan package, and making some side scratch while doing it.

Off to LAX!

27. Go Sooners
OU plays North Texas today and the Tide next week. Even though our defense is supposed to be better, we do have an unproved QB in Jason White. If he can just keep from making major mistakes the Sooners have a decent chance of having a very good year.

Our toughest games should be Bama, Texas, Texas AM and then Kansas State if we make it to the Big 12 Championship game.

Really looking forward to the season starting.

Boooooomer Soooooner!!!!!!!

28. this should be a great weekend!
Auburn and USC should have alot of earhole hitss today--some Auburn player was whiming on ESPN just now, claiming that USC was bath mouthing the south and all--huh?! Not this USC team--perhaps during the Larry Smith years, but not now...

meanwhile, Michigan has two live practices until Notre Dame pays a visit
