My children told me their career choices tonight.
My daughter (12)- She wants to be a lawyer and someday the governor of our state. Determined and ambitious.

My son (8)- He want to be a scientist in a technological field and invent something. He has this elaborate idea about magnetism, cars, and solving the energy crisis that will come. Interesting and very insightful ideas.

My son (6)- He wants to be a scientist too, but he wants to do experiments on monkey's brains. Or his second choice: a gynecologist (or as he puts it- a doctor for women's vaginas).
What am I going to do with that boy?

3. Not even allowed scissors
In fact, he was banned from the computer because he cut the mouse cord and then tried to blame his brother. He keeps me on drill sargeant duty when I want to be the warm and fuzzy enlightened mommy, but slowly he's becoming civilized.

5. It's a continuous onslought of weiner jokes around here.
Nope, no hangups. They act very good in school and do well, but at home it's like a continuous comedic sketch. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

4. What age do kids start playing Doctor & Nurse?
The little one is going to be a hand full.

They sound like leaders in the making.

Yeah, they're a handful, but good. They keep each other on their toes with their competitive spirit too.

6. We need a good govenor here -- hope she is a dem!
My 9 year old has wanted to be a teacher since she was 4 -- and now UCONN is her dream. The 6 year old boy wants to be a motocross rider. What schools are good for that?

9. UConn is my daughter's dream too.
She plays basketball pretty well- an accurate fowlshooter anyway. There's lots of great stuff for girls and basketball around here if your daughter gets into it (I'm east of the River, Hartford County). And of course she'll be a Dem. :D

Don't know about motocross though. :D

13. When are we going to do a CT DU get together
I liked the family picnic idea -- do we just pick a place and date, post it and see if anyone shows?

17. We should do just that.
Someplace like Wickham Park on the East Hartford/Manchester line has a playground, tons of space for a picnic, centrally located, and right off 84.

Mid-August weekend maybe?

12. I do.

He needs to find a creative outlet that we are yet to find. Everything he does, he excels and becomes bored and gets into trouble. For sports, he's done baseball, soccer, and tae-kwan-do. Everything he picked up really quickly, but said he didn't like it. I think the next thing is that he's going to try is guitar lessons. I think a bit of artistry will do him well.

15. When I said hand full
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 08:00 PM by VoteDemocratic2004
I meant that as a positive not a negative.

He is going to be the one that will excel in something unexpected and be very good at what he does.

Watch him around girls though...he might start playing Doctor and Nurse a little bit earlier then other kids do.

They all sound very intelligent.

I envy you!

23. Nope
Even worse. It was my daughter. You KNOW how middle schoolers really are too. :scared:

We had a nice little conversation that evening about privacy and adults and all that fun stuff. Don't want her to be neurotic about all that stuff, but I sure don't want my privacy to be invaded either.
It's hard for her sometimes though because she has a young mom that looks even younger and often she thinks it's cool, but other times I think in a sense it would be easier for her if I were 45 and more matronly like some of her friend's moms. Kids that age who are just discovering the opposite gender (or same, but she seems to be strait) don't want to grasp the concept of their parents as sexual beings, but it's all a part of life really. We're all human and as adults, it's a big part of it.

21. my 8 year old wants to invent
a parent brain control device, so we will do and buy what he wants. ( and subsequently be broke) And he now wants to build an elevator in the house and install security doors everywhere. An interesting age.

your kids sound very sweet and imaginative sb. And cute, too, judging from another post's pix.
