I have a "good" problem to deal with
Recently, I changed jobs; to experience something new and to get away from what I perceived as causing me to be "burned out."

I don't particularly like the new job, and in fact quit and cleaned out my office. After discussing things with the powers-that-be, it was determined that I could take a month off, and come back in mid-August.

I don't know that I will.

The job I left was also a good one, and they want me back.

I also can get another job, but the pay is very low.

I have been trying to sort through whether I'm just tired of doing what I have been doing forever; social services, or if I just need a break. No answers have been forthcoming thus far, but I feel lucky to have this problem.

Good luck to all who are experiencing "real" employment problems. I feel like a dumbo for having so much angst about this when there are so many with so much more to deal with.

Just wanted to put that out there, and say good luck to all who are struggling.

I mean no offense, but I'm having a DIFFICULT time sympathizing with your plight!

6. I know, and completely understand!
I think the point I was trying to make was that I, in my little world, have problems to deal with, that, on a scale of 1 to 10, are maybe 3's compared to some others. I feel lucky in some ways, though have experienced the #10 problems many times also in my life.

2. the struggle to find satisfaction in life is a legitimate struggle
I wish you the best in finding out what it is you truly want to spend your life doing - or at least the next phase of your life, anyway. Some of us are wanderers, called to change careers and strive for something different, sometimes often, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Follow your joy, regardless of the burdens of societal "norms", ignore your inner gremlin, and from that shall happiness and fulfillment come.

3. there is no such thing as comparative pain
if we don't have angst in our lives, we usually manufacture it

4. Similar situation
I had a very high paying job for the last 13 years, but was not happy with it and was in much stress.

I jumped to a new company in January which made me what I considered a generous offer, but offered less pay. It remains to be seen if I will get close to what I was making at the other company, but I am still very glad I made the move.

5. It's hard to pass up a good paying job now-a-days
no matter how much you dislike it. I guess you should do what you feel is right for you, but if I were in your shoes I'd be going to the highest bidder.

I dislike my job, too, but I keep plugging away at it because I need the paycheck. And I can't think of anything I could do for a living that I would actually enjoy. I think there are very few who are fortunate enough to say they enjoy their jobs.
