A 20-year-old woman and her 30-year-old associate were being held in the Manatee County Jail on Friday, accused of tying up the woman's mother, robbing her home and taking her car.
The victim, Myra Cooley, 58, told authorities that she was at her home in the 3300 block of Wild Myrtle Court near Windermere when someone knocked on her front door about 7 p.m. Thursday. At the door were her daughter, Meggan Cooley, and four men, Orange County sheriff's officials said.
Cooley told authorities that she opened the door for her daughter, and the men forced their way inside. Meggan Cooley and the men then tied up the mother with duct tape and rope. The suspects took the woman's Chrysler, some jewelry and her cell phone, according to an Orange County sheriff's report.
Meggan Cooley told her mother: "I'm sorry, I love you but I had to do this," according to the report. Two of the men left the woman's house before the home invasion took place, it said.
