I love to garden, and used to go to gardening sites, but rarely post anymore due to the vitriol out there.
And I believe that the reThugs have operatives all over the web, in deep cover spreading the conservative hate message. I am sure you have been to the Garden Web site, a huge gardening site, advertises in Horticulture, Country Garden Living. I used to spend a great deal of my Internet time there, The site user agreement specifically mentions no politics allowed, apparently they mean no liberal Dem politics allowed.
One day I was following a discussion concerning rose growing, chemical vrs. organic, and as rose growers are very passionate and opinionated, it got quite heated. The web master had to intervene to restore order and posted a message that basically said, no agendas will be pursued without buying a membership to the site. And he posted the logos of several organizations that had purchased "memberships". So who do I see along with the logos of the American Rose Society and The Seed Savors Exchange? THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION. No kidding, I following a link to their home page, Now why would the heritage foundation purchase a membership to a gardening/discussion forum? So while the discussion is not "political" in nature, it certainly has an agenda. And I don't think the garden web is the only site the right wingers have their fingers in, anonymously of course. Its all part of the reThug noise machine.
The funny thing is, a large part of the membership in the garden web are environmentalists and organic gardeners. They must have complained, because the Heritage Foundations logo disappeared in a matter of hours, but I hardly doubt their supporters have.
