What time is your ALARM set for?
Are you a "snoozer"? (hitting the snooze button over and over)

What time do you have to be at work/school/wherever?

I curious as to how much time it takes for people to "get going" in the morning, or before they start their day.

Me-6AM NO and 8AM (always late though).

8. Same here, 6:20 a.m., no snooze.
I have to be at work from 7:15 to 8:15 depending on which school I'm subbing in. And before I leave I have to pack lunch for myself, my husband, and sometimes my son. I also have to get my middle schooler up, dressed, brushed, and breakfasted so he can get to school on time... :-)

3. Too freaking early
4:45am. My carpool leaves at 5:30.

The sad thing is, I don't get to see The Daily Show because it's on at 11 here in Phoenix. I can catch the repeat of the previous night's at 7, which is okay except that that's the time the West Wing is on Bravo. Life's so hard sometimes.

4. If I am getting up before my partner,
Then my alarm goes off at 7am. I have to be in the office at 8am. If jeff get's up before me, he usually gets up at 6:30am. He works on flex time and as long as he gets in before 9am they are happy. He comes in and wakes me up at 7. Usually I get up right away, but this morning Jeff got up at 6:30, and I kept hitting the snooze.

5. Mine
6:30 alarm - two snoozes usually it's 6:50 by the time I get up (usually one of the cats comes and makes me start playing with him and that wakes me up).

I don't do much with my hair - it's wash and go. Spend a little time petting the other cat who insists on having her belly petted in the morning.

Out the door by 7:45 and at work at 8:00 (a 3 mile commute in the same county).

7. Don't set an alarm.
I'm automatically up at 4:30 a.m. Then have to take the dog out and then need another half hour to
wake up. I leave the house about 6 a.m. to be at work by 7 a.m.

14. Set for 4:40 so I can get husband up for work, because they don't make
an alarm loud enough to wake him. Then I lay down until 6:30 and then start round 2 with the kids. In the summer I sleep IN. God I am going to miss summer.

19. My girlfriend has no snooze button.
Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 10:11 AM by Blue_Chill
She up for her shower and dog walking morning duties at 6:30. My alarm clock has a CD alarm that kicks off at 7AM and a standard (and annoying) buzzing sound the goes off at 7:15. They both are snoozed until 7:30 when my girlfriend comes back from walking the dog and yells at me.

Then I mutter a few four letter words and sleep walk to the shower.

22. 4:50 AM, Every Day
I am definitely an early riser. After 25 years of playing gigs and getting home at 4am, i've decided i prefer being an early to bed, early to rise, person.

I feel better now that i do this!

I think getting enough sleep and then having time to relax as i get ready for work reduces the fatigue aspects of MS. (Most common symptom of MS, by the way.) Also, since i have to give myself the Betaseron injection at 6am, i have lots of time to have coffee, walk the dog, and read the paper before i jab myself with the needle.

The TV in the basement rec room, and in the bedroom both turn themselves on at 4:50. That way if i fall asleep on the couch, i'll still wake up at the usual time.
The Professor

23. My alarm is set for 8AM.
I don't have a "snooze" button -- I have a little battery-powered travel alarm clock that I use (not enough power outlets in my bedroom, but what do you expect in a 110-year-old house), and it has two settings: On and Off. It makes a really annoying loud "beepity-beep, beepity-beep" noise, and I usually lie there and listen to it for about 10 minutes (or more) before getting out of bed. I'm *usually* at work by 9AM, but if I'm a little late, it doesn't matter too much (I just stay late). My boss is pretty flexible.

I also live 5 mins by bus (30 mins by my slow feet) away from work, which isn't even the closest to work I've ever lived. When I lived in Toronto, I could leave the house at 8:58 and *still* have to unlock the building, never mind my office! (Two and a half blocks away from work, three grocery stores, two banks, two drug stores, two laundromats and a dry cleaner's, a hardware store, a movie theatre, two hairdressing places, several "bodega"-type markets/variety stores/flower shops, a 'fruteria,' several restaurants, a Greek bakery, and a subway/bus/streetcar station right in my neighbourhood! Heaven!!)

I could sleep a little later, I guess, but I like a leisurely breakfast. Yes, I even make pancakes or egs or French toast sometimes.

I hate setting my alarm for normal times. I have a good friend that sets his alarm for weird times and neither one of gave the other the idea. Anyway, I have to be at work at 6:30 a.m. I have been dragging lately though.

35. I start work at 6AM
Since it takes two buses for me to get to work I set my alarm for 330AM and am generally up by 4AM.

I catch my first bus at 430 and the second one at 445AM. I get to work around 515AM. That gives me 30 minutes or so to surf the Internet on the bosses dime and connection. No, I am not the only one on the bus at that hour but I am often the only white person on the bus.

Watch Bowling for Columbine for an explanation of how many black people take the bus to the wealthier suburbs to do work. There is a section about this woman whose six year old son killed a school mate. Seems she left him with his crack head uncle because due to welfare reform (signed into law by Clinton) she was forced to go work for Dick Clark's American Bandstand grill and it was a very long bus ride.

The hours probably sound horrible but I do like getting off at 230 when I don't have overtime. When I do work overtime I get off at 345PM.

I go to bed very early so it does not lend itself to much of a social life during the week.
