Danny Dark died! Voice of "Sorry, Charlie" in tuna commericals

He was also the voice of Superman in the "Super Friends" show and a lot of other things.

In the StarKist commercials, he told Charlie Tuna, "sorry, Charlie;" he said, "This Bud's for you" in Budweiser spots, and "Raid kills bugs dead" in commercials for Raid Ant & Roach Killer.

(snip)

Mr. Dark, whose real name was Daniel Melville Croskery, was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Tulsa. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, which under the guidance of an English teacher named Isabelle E. Ronan was then a training ground for future stars. Paul Harvey and Tony Randall also graduated from there.

Paul Harvey - though a rightwinger, and sadly my fraternity brother - one has to admit also has a great voice. And of course Randall was a brilliant actor. Amazing they're all from the same high school. That must have been one ass kickingly good English teacher.

1. Ahh, too bad. Sorry Danny.
Wow, what are the chances of that HS having 3 celebs from there? Tulsa, OK?

2. Amazing, isn't it?
I could see from NYC or LA or Chicago or someplace big and important like that, but from Tulsa, and all born 65 years or so ago - impressive.

I wish I could have met that English teacher.

hell, I wish I could have HAD that English teacher (as a teacher, not "had" in the sense of "bang")

3. Here's a picture of Danny, So long Superman
Smooth-talkin' Danny Dark, who later went on to major
success as the voice of NBC, Bonanza, Budweiser and Mazda was
surrounded by some of the best of the era.

4. "Danny Dark the DJ"
I remember listening to "Danny Dark the DJ" on KOMA radio in Oklahoma when I was a kid. He was great but I thought it was a radio name at the time.
