mozilla backup of email...questions....


Backup plan

how do I back up to disk email for mozilla...?
what format is it saved as?

Backup of address book too

1. depends on the platform
and type of mail. I assume you are running POP mail which you download off the server.

If you are running windows xp, you should have a profile somewhere with your name under Documents and Settings. Look for Mozilla/<default or your ID>/<randomletters>.slt/Mail/<account name>. There you should see Inbox, Sent and any other folders you created. Copy all files and directories in here. *.msf isn't necessary, those are indexes.

Under Mac, the path is <home>/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/<default or your ID>/<randomletters>.slt/Mail/<account name>

Under Linux/Unix the path is <home>/.mozilla/<default or your ID>/<randomletters>.slt/Mail/<account name>.

Adress book is abook.mab (and any other .mab files) just under the <randomletters>.slt directory.

After you reinstall mozilla, copy stuff back into the respective directories. The .slt will be different if you recreate the profile
