3. Yes. Both women's and mixed doubles.
I bet she gets to the semis at least in women's doubles.

5. So Did Venus
So, she's in good company. Everybody loses sometime at that level of play.

The fact that she can play at the level at all is amazing. She's 47 for goodness sake. That's impressive.

9. Yup, I saw that Karolina Sprem beat her...
I was impressed.

Sprem's a very attractive woman, BTW. Nice legs.

10. Ouch, better watch that comment about nice legs
It's probably safe buried here in an obscure tennis thread. Just don't tongue-in-cheek suggest figure skating is obviously great for the legs and all young women should be required to do it. I tried that once and got shot at from all sides, like a circular firing squad of tennis ball machines.

11. Yeah, yeah, we're not allowed to have libidos.
LOL I keep it in check well enough around here. I don't worry too much about those folks just as long as I make sure I don't go overboard.

6. THat's OK, she can cry on my shoulder anytime...
After all she has done for the game and for the recognition of women athletes, she can do whatever she wants as far as I am concerned. Heroine Worship? Oh heavens no, not me! You lookin' at me? Huh? Huh? HUH?

7. Don't tell m-jean03...
...I have a secret feeling that her whole Sapphic enterprise was predicated on how far Martina could go at Wimbledon.

Eh...I may be wrong about that. Courses for horses, wot?

8. That was still classic grass court tennis by Martina
And demonstrative how superior her game was on that surface, during her prime. She still rushed the net on Thursday and her volleying form was crisp and superb.

Only Jana Novotna among recent titlists has been a pure serve and volleyer. Even great athletes like Serena and Steffi were big hitting, baseline first types who seldom feel comfortable at net. Navratilova at her best would have beaten either at Wimbledon, although I realize Steffi defeated Martina in the finals relatively late in Martina's career.
