3. That's awesome
I'm gonna be driving a hundred miles to see it myself. Maybe I should check to make sure it's not selling out where I'm going, too. I don't figure on that happening in Houston but you never know...! I can't remember how long it's been since I've actually wanted to see a movie this much! (This is particularly sad since I currently work at a movie theatre. haha)

4. We bought our tickets on Sunday
and the cashier told us to be sure to get there early, because all shows were selling out. They have it on two screens and will have 10 showings a day.

Until recently it was advertised to start in the same week as in the US, then it got pushed back to the last week of July.

7. Imagine how the "libbrul media" will react ...
... when F911 pulls down $25 million this weekend.

Yep ... add about 2000 theaters and non-stop right-wing bloviating for the next month. Poor Bill Clinton (as if!) won't be able to get more than one or two hundred words in edgewise!

Of course, there will be half a million refutations and rebuttals made. Richard Clark has already said that he and he alone was responsible for the Bin Laden family's hasty retreat; I expect other acts of ritual seppuku -- to preserve the Master's honor -- to follow.

I live in the upper 'burbs, Lynne ... it's the same out here in Republicanland. You know that big wave that drenched New York City in The Day After Tomorrow? We're about to see its big brother.

A subtle distinction that needs to be understood by the uninformed public (not you BKL).

14. hehe, it's working...
one of the lists I'm on is talking about some church and labor groups buying blocks of tickets, or renting entire theaters.

There's something big going on here.

Something very big.

15. 3 days ago
in my very, very, republican town, the theater said, they wouldnt
be showing it "because it's a limited release"...in other words,
BS
But, she said, "a lot of people are calling."

yesterday, a friend called and they
told him they were showing it.

we're having a BBQ and inviting
a bunch of friends. I am buying
a block of ticks today...

21. Oh, man...
this is really big.

Really, really, big.

Dunno how old you are or if you remember the talk of the "silent majority" back in the age of Nixon, but it looks like we have a new silent majority now.

There was a backlash against the liberalism of the '60s that led to what we have now, and it looks like the pendulum is finally starting to swing back.

Fundies and wingnuts-- WE'RE BAAAAAACK!

Geez, the Passions of Michael Moore

But if they're going to see it then I'm happy about it!!

18. Yup!
And it was the church's buying Passion tickets that inspired the idea.

All churches are not fundigelicals, and I first saw the idea on a liberal Baptist list.

(Yes, Viginia, there are liberal Baptists)

The thought occurred to me for a minute or two that wingnuts might be buying up tickets to stop us from seeing it, but this is too big for that.

16. I love it when they say you can not see it, read it, or do it.
Talk about the flag. That one sets off every one.Thank God the Republicans have never figured that out. I watched the Congressman from Ca. trying to make it a point on TV-CNN last night on Dobb's. He did a bad job. It is just hard to make the point that we should not see some thing because say Congress tells us we should not see it.

30. AMC is part of Regal
And Regal is showing it in our area but all the shows are sold out.

People are thinking I'm getting a little too excited about this movie, but damnit I had to deal with all the religious nuts going crazy about that Passions movie.

I know we'll never make $400mil on this movie but I'm hoping good word of mouth will bring good business to this movie. But where I do see 9/11 outshining Passion will be the awards circuit at the end of the year. I'm sure Moore will be up again for Oscars, Globes and everything else. BTW, can a documentary be nominated for Best Picture???

33. I'm totally with you on that...
I don't think I've ever been excited over a movie coming out... AND... I've NEVER been to an opening night of a movie... Hate the crowds, but somehow... I think THIS crowd might be enjoyable. I might find all the liberals crawling out from the woodwork, cause believe me, I haven't met one yet who lives near me down here.

I think Best Picture can be any genre, so yes, I think it could be nominated.

29. Thanks. This is definitely something I want to see
and I know that many friends feel the same, so we will probably go together. It's helpful to know, ahead of time, that it could be sold out if we wait too long to purchase tickets. Do you think this is possible here in Freeper Country? We can only hope! I am looking forward to finding out! This could be a very good sign, LOL!:D

Newark doesn't have it listed. BTW, there is some indie theater in Rehobeth Beach that is also showing it. When I organized some folks to go see the movie, Brandywine didn't have it listed so we are all going up to the Ritz in Philly to catch it.
