Things you like that aren't cool

I mean things that aren't big in snob circles - not things that aren't cool to the touch.

I pride myself on being open-minded: I keep on loving Avril Lavigne and others even though people bash them. I think artists like J-Lo really deserve the bashing.

But I have a fascination with scratchbuilding ship models.

Right now i am well into a 16th C. Mediterranian Carriack - plank on frame
scratch built in 5/32nds scale.

Just finished up a model of a Mississippi R Towboat built in 1952,
I drew up the plans myself from photographs and known dimensions.
in 1/8th scale.



i also play mandolin. and volunteer on a historic railroad.



nobody in their right mind would do things like this.

4. A lot

Maybe it's just 'cause I'm a nerdy guy, but I have a history of getting into things that aren't very cool to be into by the standards of most people. When I was in Elementary school I was fascinated with maps and the Presidents, and then I became obsessed with the Beatles. In fourth grade I became a coin collector. In sixth grade I started collecting records and got very much into chart statistics and music history. (I've never really gotten over this interest!) In high school I developed an avid interest in politics as well. And at least where I live, it's still not very cool for someone my age to be interested in politics. So really, most things I have really gotten into throughout my life haven't been cool, but I don't particularly mind. Maybe it's just in my nature for things to happen that way.
