Who likes fashions from other eras??
Edited on Sat Jun-19-04 02:57 AM by SoCalDem
This website has some really interesting photos from bygone days.. It's especially interestin to see how young women used to dress...(before the "sex-kitten" image took hold :)

1. I Love clothes from the Victorian, Edwardian period.. I also
love fashions from the 50-60 womens wear. Like the clothes Jackie O wore. Couture, Some of Cocoa Channel evening wear, many more. Anyway I have this same page in my favorites. I draw PD's (paperdolls) for fun and get ideals for the clothing from these sites.

4. For women's fashions I like the '20's and '30's...
for men's, the '30's (when it comes to classic men's styles, it's hard to beat a double-breasted chalk-stripe suit and a rakish fedora).

6. I'm with you on the chalk stripe suit
...but only if we're going to be in a gangster movie. I just think they look out of place today. I know they still make them and sell them, and I saw one on the street just the other day--yes, even on the handsome man who was wearing it, it looked out of place to me.

8. Well, of course it looks out of place today...
but then so do a lot of other classic styles that I happen to like anyway...like full evening dress (tails, white tie, white pique vest, top hat and opera cape, all that)...not necessarily something one would wear, now, except perhaps to a costume party or something, but it still has a certain je ne sais quoi, no?

10. I with you on the 30s three piece suit
I'm a huge fan of that style and I'm hoping that my next suit will be in that style. Screw what people think, I like em.

5. I love fashion of many eras
Always enjoyed period costume when I was singing on stage. OK, being a Cretan prison in Idomeneo wasn't that much fun, but lots of other period costumes were great! Love women's fashions from the mid-20th century, too. (I'm such a fag!)

Costumes are fun, but for daily dressing, I'm a pretty simple guy. "Rumpled academic" is what I used to call my look--emphasis on the rumpled.

7. Well you can see why they needed maids.
I have a picture of my Great grandmother, about 1870, and she does not look like a happy camper in her dress.Form fitting up to the neck and heavy looking. Must have been just bad in the heat.I go with what I feel good in and to heck with what anyone else is in. They were pretty to look at, I must say.

11. I do!
I love vintage clothes, but can't afford to buy 'em and can't sew 'em myself.
