So the show is on for two nights in mid-August in the Target Center in Minneapolis. Thirty-two quasi-hockey players will shed their gloves and square off in the first "Battle of the Hockey Gladiators," a one-on-one, double-elimination affair.
Former NHLers Lyndon Byers, Serge Roberge and Mike Ware are on the card. So is 43-year-old Andy Ristau, a former Buffalo Sabres farmhand whose fists, alas, were far faster than his feet.
First prize is $100,000. Do you know what you can do with that $100,000? You can get your nose fixed, your teeth restored and still have $80,000 left over!

"It's kind of like a freight train. It's out of control," Wolski said by phone Wednesday. "I think I've done 200 interviews. People love it. And they hate it, too. But regardless if you hate the idea you're still going to watch the thing. It's going to be two-and-a-half hours of straight hockey fights."
