Johnny Ramone in hospital
Guitarist Johnny Ramone in hospital with cancer-related infection

Johnny Ramone, guitarist for the punk rock band The Ramones, has been hospitalized due to an infection related to prostate cancer, his publicist said Thursday.
"He is receiving the medication he needs and will be leaving the hospital next week to continue his recovery," spokesman Paul Bloch said.

Dammit!

1. The doctor was given permission from Johnny's wife to elaborate...
And he's been living with prostate cancer for years. He's going home tomorrow. Calm down. He's just had a little bit of a thing, and he's fine, according to his wife. His wife wanted to make sure people know he's OK. She said he's not dying yet.

4. Thanks - I'm very reactive today
It's crunch time at work, and so I'm just exploding at the smallest things.

2. Did you know he's a Republican?
I don't wish cancer on any human being - but I just thought I would point out that Johnny Ramone is a filthy, disgusting Republican.

I hope he makes his peace with God before he dies and repents of his awful sins.

5. Yes, I do
But he was part of one of the greatest influences on my life, and I am tired of seeing Ramones dropping dead. Though I believe in none of the gods, I too hope he repents his evil ways...

6. I've never judged art by the politics of the artist
That is an awful way to judge aesthetics. The Ramones rocked! That is all that matters. I can listen to their musics and instantly be put in a good mood.

I strongly urge everyone to watch Rock and Roll High School as a way of sending good vibes to Johnny.

7. Agreed - politics should not matter
Let's send the good vibes you mentioned in an effort to help him heal and repent of his support of the party that uses its political barometer to try to destroy the careers of other artists who dare to express their political opinions. Dixie Chicks, Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Sinead - remember them all as you rise above the GOP and pray or send well wishes to Johnny Ramone. Best wishes to him and his family.
