I've got a confession to make.
No, no, no, I'm not gay!

I used to be Mormon.:wow: It's true. I was raised Roman Catholic (which never really fit too well), never practiced it much. Then, when I met the woman I later married, she gave me the "convert or you'll never have any of THIS again" ultimatum.

Being a typical male, I did all my thinking below the waist on that issue, and converted to Mormonism.

Thankfully, my wife (yep, the one that discovered she is bi about 3 years ago) started to realize how absolutely fuckin' goofy Mormon doctrine really is, and we stopped going to church about 5 years into our now 13-year marriage.

Thing is, since I've not been excommunicated (only because the church hierarchy doesn't know some of the things I've done!) or asked to have my name removed from mormon church records, I'm technically still a Mormon!

Can I be forgiven my terrible secret?!?

PS - For those of you who don't know, most Mormons make FReepers look like socialists in comparison. That was one of the factors that drove both me and my wife away from that so-called church. Oh, and the Mormon Church is VERY blatant about instructing it's members how to vote and who to vote for, too.

1. You are forgiven.
Any young DUers here, a piece of advice: Don't look for the "Catholic girls (who) start much too late." If you can find a Mormon girl away from home for the first time, you're gonna get laid. Guaranteed. Not that I encourage that sort of thing. I'm just saying. That cult represses its members so much, they go hog-wild when they get away from the brainwashing.

2. dont' worry about trying to get your name removed
for they won't and will include you, your relatives, your DEAD relatives and THEIR DEAD relatives on their roles.

they were caught recently and their 'excuse' was that all these DEAD people would have been converts had they not died :eyes:

anywhoo.... welcome to the light

11. Yup, baptism for the Dead they call it....
My wife and I thought we might start doing "excommunication for the dead" or even better, "sodomy for the dead".

Ewww. I just grossed myself out!:puke:

8. No, I have not.
I just consider it part of my past. I have no animosity, they have never bothered me. I still have friends there. I find as a whole they are wonderful people but I need to be able to make my own mind up about things in my life. I don't need or want direction from a bunch of men who think they are connected to the almighty.

7. I had that same experience, MuseRider.
I quit the whole Student Loan program, but they keep sending me literature. A lot of it's pretty threatening. I've decided they're a cult, too!

4. I too was a Mormon for a while. I discovered that
Mormonism (in my opinion, of course) is not a religion, but a political movement disguised as a religion. In fact, it's so well disguised at the lower levels that most practicing Mormons don't even realize that fact.

14. You were a kid
raised in the faith. Damn, I was a grown up who had never had any reason to belong to an organized religion. I have no clue what was going on in my mind at that time in my life. Things were bad but not that bad!
