NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario -- More than a dozen tourists from Japan were injured Tuesday when the roof of the double-decker bus they were riding in was sheared off by a bridge.
The roof of a double-decker tour bus carrying 29 Japanese hangs from a railway bridge after it was sheared off while the vehicle was traveling in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The chartered bus was on a street that passes under the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, linking Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, N.Y.
"The bus was too tall for the bridge," said Sgt. Jim Moody of the Niagara Regional Police Service.
The bus was carrying 29 Japanese tourists. Fifteen people were treated at a hospital and released, and several others were treated at the scene, Niagara Parks Police said. None of the injuries was serious, authorities said.
