Poll question: Have you ever seen your parents naked?
That would be mom or dad.

15. that was the LAST time I walked into a room without knocking.
All I saw was my grandfather's ass and my grandmother giggled and said, "I TOLD you someone was coming."

of course, I didn't get the joke THEN.

4. They aren't shy about sex either
Or at least they could never remember to quite close the door all the way. Yuck. Maybe that is why I am such a hornball now. Emotional scarring.

5. I saw both my parents naked growing up
It's a small house and I always saw them when they were changing clothes. And dad preferred to change clothes in the hallway for some reason.

9. Nah. That was just him
I think it had more to do with the fact that it's a small house and there was little room for both of them in the room.

6. My mother's side of the family...
My mom, Grandma, hell most of the women in my family - are not in the least bit shy about being naked in front of each other.

In my own home we have "naked time". My 3 year old LOVES naked time! He even has a naked dance.

I figure if you make it a no biggie it gives you confidence in any situation. If you are not embarrassed about the idea of being naked, very little is going to phase you.

8. Just to add a depressing note to a light hearted thread
I often bathed and dressed my mother during her final illness. It was a very humbling experience for me.

13. I did too
At first it seemed strange, but then it seemed like taking care of a baby. The only problem was, the "baby" was dying. Caring for her those last 6 months was the hardest and best thing I every did, and I'm so glad I was able to.

One of my brothers lived with her and took very good care of her. I came in on weekends to help. We were all lucky he was there to look after her.

23. Same here with my dad
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 04:38 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
In fact..one of the first times I had to change him..he had messed himself badly and it was awful..for both of us...for me to deal with and for his own sense of humility...I knew I needed to take the "charge" off of it for him..having lost so much control of his life..I could see the pain on his face...so as I was wiping the mess off of him (he was standing so I could GET to it) I looked up and said, "Hey dad, when I was a baby and you changed me...did mine smell this bad?" he laughed...the humor got us BOTH through a trying moment...now that he's dead I remember it more fondly.

Is so respectable you almost had me in tears.

You seem to have a good respect for your dad which I can relate too and the way it was handled was a kodak moment kinda=)

My grandmother suffered from a prolapsed uterus during her last couple of years. . . I was the only one in the family who would deal with it. You have to stuff it back in. . . She was embarassed about it, but after a while we could joke about it.

11. Mom accident, Dad at various pool changerooms
Mom forgot to lock the bathroom door - her fault.

Dad and I would go swimming at the Y or other pools and change together.

14. My mother was always naked when we were kids.
My father wasn't as much, but he wasn't shy. We were kind of a naked family. Up until the age of about five, we kids were always naked too. It was just never a big deal in my house.

20. When my parents were together, nakedness was the normal...
however, when my dad remarried to a rather moderate-conservative wife + 2 daughters, nakedness is no more...

One fun memory of early childhood were me and pops 'peeing contests' the goal is to see who could keep the stream going the longest, without stopping.

And yes, I am a weird person now because of that ;).

22. I caught
them on accident at 5 yrs old having well you know lol.

I ran out of the house crying cause I thought my dad was hurting my mom. So I went to my neighbor saying I need a cop and when he came out and talked to my parents he was laughing and said, which I remember very well, "It's ok your dad was helping your mom with a tooth ache", and I believed him LOL.
