'Rose rage' sweeps UK's gardens
Neighbourly goodwill is going down the garden drain as 'rose rage' has taken root in the UK, according to new research.

Statistics unearthed by BBC Gardeners' World Magazine reveal almost a third of UK residents admit to having argued with neighbours over a garden issue.

The three most irritating things in a neighbour's garden are a barking dog, loud music and late night garden parties, according to a UK-wide poll of 2,000 people.

The research also says one fifth of the homeowners polled think their neighbour's garden could be vastly improved.

3. ROFL! You would think they could find more important things...
I love gardening and as a certified Master Gardener I choose to use my powers for good instead of evil! :)

That being said, I do have a habit of looking at peoples landscaping and wondering what in the heck they were thinking. I have to stop myself from leaving notes on peoples doors asking them why in the world they put Hostas in full sun????!!!! But then again, I'm also tempted to stop and tell people what a beautiful garden they have.

6. Hey Fred.
I thought daylilies were supposed to be so easy to grow. Why won't mine grow?

I have one Stella d'Oro that's just now coming up a year after planting. It blooms every couple of days, but it looks dorky all by itself.

8. Are they getting enough sun and water?
If that is ok, you probably need to have your soil tested. In the meantime, I would recommend feeding them with some granular fertilizer to see if that helps.

Stellas are wonderful repeat bloomers - I have them lining my driveway.

9. Well, I THOUGHT they were.

Perhaps not. I usually use fish fertilizer instead of granular since it's organic. They get some shade from a tree, but the one that's furthest under the shade is now the one that's blooming. Go figure.

Hey...if I had a couple packages of them, and bought them around March or so, and just got them planted the other day, I'm wondering how they'll do.

There was not much "bulb" to speak of. Pretty dried out. You couldn't tell the root sprigs from the stems. And wouldn't you know, I put them in just before our rainy month. They're going to be deluged for several more weeks. Heavy clay sun that I've amended with lots of compost, peat, etc. Hot humid sun during the day, then thunder boomers at night. Whaddya think?

4. I'd be too scared to argue with anyone in America
in case they stuck a cap in my ass (as children put it).

But here it's quite easy to tell people to cut down their laylandii, without fearing that they'll turn there legally held assault rifle on your sorry ass (or arse as I like to say).

The woman who lives next door to us doesn't do diddly about her yard, and her happy happy weeds fly next door and take root in OUR lawn.

I'm starting to get pissed that she won't do anything about it. My backyard garden is coming along nicely, but my front yard sucks, and it's HER FAULT. I'm about ready to belt her.
