On April 1st, the owner of the three-store pharmacy chain for which I work announced that he had sold the company to Brooks. The other two stores would become Brooks Pharmacies during the first week of May, while my store would close soon after that. But not to worry! Those of us in the closing store would be offered positions with Brooks. Too bad Brooks didn't know that.
When I and two co-workers went to the Brooks informational meeting, they didn't know who the fuck we were. In fact, they didn't even know that the company they just bought had a third store! Needless to say, there were no new jobs waiting for us.
But wait! Perhaps my store won't close after all. Not ne, not two, but three separate people have approached the owner with offers to buy the place and keep it open. So a month goes by and we hear nothing. Then, hallelujah! It looks like the store will indeed be sold, and my co-workers and I won't become unemployed after all. So who's buying the store? Well, they really can't tell us yet.
Another month goes by, during which time the scuttlebutt is that two of the potential buyers have bitten the dust. What about the third? Nobody knows! So, will we continue to have jobs or won't we? Nobody knows!
Nothing like having your whole fucking life up in the air, huh? :grr::nuke:
