Rush
My first exposure to them was Presto. Still think that's by far their worst record.

2. Given some of the crap in my collection
it's usually the other way around.

I don't know that a band I thought was outright awful ever won me over. But I have grown to appreciate the work of some bands that weren't my cup of tea, i.e. I now own a Fleetwood Mac disc, several Hawkwinds, etc.

Probably the biggest increase in my appreciation has been--cliche, now--The Beach Boys. It was so easy to dismiss them in the early hey-days 70's when I hit my teens and discovered music.

4. OK
A band exotic and probably meaningless to most on DU: Die Fantastischen Vier (Fantastic Four).
I used to hate them, in fact I still don't like the music/ most of their songs.
However they are the only German Hip-Hop Band producing something that approaches good and their Lyrics are brilliant. Not so much because of the content, but because they manage to rhyme properly using the German language.

8. Me too.
I didn't listen to him back in the '70s or '80s, but I think he's a musical prophet now. Now that he's dead, of course. *sigh*

Duran Duran
I used to hate them back in the 80's.

It just wasn't cool for guys to like them where I lived.

But now, I love 'em! :)

I wasn't big on Depeche Mode until years after I first heard of them, though.

15. Springsteen!
Hated him when I first heard him. Then caught some lyrics that I liked. Then liked a couple of more songs, but still didn't get it. People told me that you had to see him live. So I did. Blew me away!
