40. Chicago pizza has the exact same ingredients as NY style
The toppings are just reversed and in different quantities. I like both types, but I'll skip NY style if it been sitting out on the counter or it's too greasy (which covers most NYC places). I like my pizza fresh from the oven, and not reheated. I'm also a cheese freak, so I dig Chicago style.

Edit: To add one: Soda in Berlin /Germany
The crust is not up to American standard, but the topping of fresh(unbaked) Rucola, Balsamico, Olive Oil, Parmesan and fresh (unbaked as well) genuine Parma Ham is withouth equal.

14. You're not going to like this...
But my favorite is...

Pizza Hut, with hand tossed crust
Extra Cheese
Mushrooms
Hamburger
Italian Sausage
Pepperoni

The first slice, consumed while it's still too hot to handle, is plain. Nothing added, just the pizza.

The second slice is sprinkled with a combination of black and red pepper.

And the third slice, eaten slowly, reflectively - even languidly - that has everything added. Red and black pepper, and plenty of Parmesan cheese.

:)

Although I prefer the pan, and nothing but veggies, please. The Veggie Lovers is awesome.

Pizza Hut is very good about letting you request specific pizzas at their buffet. The typical buffet pizza is loaded with sausage, the only topping I despise. So I usually call ahead and request a veggie pizza or two before leaving for the buffet. They're usually just about ready when I arrive.

37. I have had good and bad from the chain Uno's. Very uneven.
But the deep dish is still one of my fave styles over all. There was a place in Rockville, MD (Armando's?) when I was in high school where you could make your own obscenely stuffed/layered deep dish pizza and submit it to the oven boys for baking. We must have set some kind of records for calories per cubic centimeter.

I mean Pepe's Pizza is good, and as an European (Edit: Pepe('s) is Greek and the dishes other than Pizza are fantastic) I got a certain extra service. Pepe's being close to the Campus was a plus as well.
So: I loved Pepe's Pizza, and I love the place.

But the Pizza at Bar's is simply better - provided it is not raining. (oh: Bar's Homebrew is the worst beer ever)

to add: i should clarify that i didn't mean ANY pizza. no pizza hut, dominos (yuck), or any fast food chain. here in tucson, we have a magpies pizza that is pretty darn good.

not every NYC pizza; You're gonna find crap pizza even in NYC. But I live in Brooklyn; which isn't lacking for great pizza. Heck there are 3 pizza places all within 5 blocks of me. :)

As for Chicago style pizza..what the heck is it with you people in Chicago and food anyway? :)

You seem like your food (witness your pizza and hot dog fetish) with everything but the kitchen sink on it. Tone it down will you! :)

BTW great pizza is mostly in the sauce IMHO. Most chain places (and non chain places that have no right to be making pizzas) use canned pizza sauces that are spiced terribly. Way too much oregano. As if somewhere there is a surplus of the stuff.

82. Mineo's!
Lol!...

In Squirrel Hill, you are either an Aiello's or Mineo's fan. I think it is a similar story to Uno and Due in Chicago.

I am near Squirrel Hill, and my grandfather informed me years ago that we are a Mineo's family. He was quite indignant when we suggested anything else.

As for Chicago style, which I MUCH prefer, I would take Gino's East, Uno, Due, Giordano's, Carmen's or Lou Mal's any day. When I was in Chicago for surgery in 1990, I bribed a nurse to run down and pick up a medium from Gino's East which was only a block away. I wasn't going to be in Chicago and miss an opportunity dammit!

61. Can't narrow it to one, but pizza I had on a certain South Pacific island
(seafood pizza) rates as perhaps the most memorable of my life. I love all sorts of pizza (Domino's excepted), but it was exceptional in every regard.

79. Slightly OT, but..
The last time I was in NJ, I tried to order a pizza from my room. The menu from the pizza place had so many options as to how to BUILD the pizza I didn't know how to do it.
What is 'italian' vs. 'new york' styles? I just gave up.

94. I've eaten it at one of their chain stores three or four times, and
it was good once. Sucked the other times. And in all cases couldn't hold a candle to any good new york style mom and pop pizza shop.

Don't eat corporate.

I've enjoyed the place every time I've been there.

Not just good, it was awesome.

Ive had good Mom&Pop, and bad.

Best Mom%Pop place was a Greek joint on Polk in San Francisco. Huge pizza, stringy cheese, and ultra fresh toppings. Plus the guy who made it was completely insane and loads of fun to talk with.

Good Lord.

I'm just reading the responses to this post and thanking God that I live in New York.

Papa John's?
Pizzeria UNO??

You kids don't know what you're missing if you call that pizza. In all fairness, though, I didn't either until I moved here.

(And for the record, we don't call it Sicilian pizza here in Brooklyn: we call it "squares".)

104. Rochester N.Y. area- T.K's in Fairport is the best I ever had!
A large pie with 4 toppings was something like 13 bucks last time I was in town. It was difficult to eat more than three slices because of all the toppings. The sauce is perfect.

I live in southern Tennessee now and we have a shortage of Italians down here. If you want a pizza you have your choice of the chains and thats it.

105. Mario's Pizza House, Arlington, Virginia
They serve the large, Sicilian-style square pizza - absolutely delicious. Mario's has been around forever. My parents used to go there when they were dating back in the early 1950s.

Two more: Roberto's and Lio's Pizza in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Real Italian pizza made by real Italians. Our local Democratic committee used to meet at Lio's - the Italian-Americans in the group highly recommended it.

Outside of Mario's, I can't find anything like their pizza here in Northern Virginia.

Easily the best I have ever had at least it was when my brother ran the place. It has changed hands several times since then (closed I think) and isn't the same. I worked there many times in many capacities. The stormboli's were to die for.

I will be shocked if anyone has heard of it.

But we went to Taco Cabana instead.

Now...I'll be moving again soon (this weekend or next)...maybe this time pizza will be the payoff. Austin's is very good, although when I want Chicago-style, I go to Mangia.
