Computer problem question
My home web page has been "hijacked" and it keepsputting its own "ad" web page on my home web page. When I try to change my home page back to the original page it continues to go back the next time I log on. What do I need to do to get it from coming back?

1. adaware and spybot
google search them, download the freeware, and scan your machine with each.

2. Also, switch to Mozilla.
Turn on pop-up blocking, and porn surfing becomes a lot safer.

6. WAIT! WAIT!
Don't use adaware; trust me. I've been fixing computers for several years now, and I keep seeing people who have "spyware" deleted by adaware. In reality, some of the "spyware" that adaware deletes is needed by your computer to run properly.

For example, Adaware will delete "Windows Media Player" because it sees it as an adware program. NOT GOOD. *please, PLEASE, get Spybot Search&Destroy*

www.download.com.com has it.

7. What a problem
I did the spybot and it supposively cleared the adware, but when I rebooted it went to the page again and its now a porn site. When I went to the toolbar to START and settings, it wouldn't go to settings. What the hell is going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

8. Sorry, buddy, but it doesn't sound like spyware...
go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and do the online scan. it may take a little while, but it is worth it.

10. okay, this just keeps getting
better and better:eyes: Did the scan and I have a trojan horse ---what the hell? Put it quarantine, but it's still not working right.

How the hell did I get this. I have DSL -cable- and have been out of town a few days and turned it off, but returned to find my modem a few other things on my computer on the floor and the modem was ON. I have two cats who get on my table all the time, so that explains some of it (the ON switch is on the top of the modem and it was laying on it)

Thank-you so much for your help...I'm so mad...this is frustrating

9. ???
I use a free version of AdAware 6.0 and I've never had it delete anything important. My Windows Media Player is still up and running. :) Plus, if you're really concerned about it, you can have AdAware "quarantine" the files instead of just deleting them - it takes the files, compresses them, then removes the originals. If it accidentally swipes something important, you can retrive it from the quarantined files. I don't use this feature 'cause I've never had AdAware get rid of anything but actual spyware.

I just recently got Spybot S&D and have been using it in addition to my AdAware. I would recommend this combination as each program finds stuff that the other doesn't.

4. You need a few things
zone alarm (firewall) even if you are at your computer hackers can get in

spybot (free), adaware ($), or pestpatrol($) are all "spyware" scanners that look for malicious programs and get rid of them.

Antivirus software: norton, pandsoftware, trend, and now zonealarm all have antivirus software. Scan for free at pandasoftware or trend.

Good luck.
