Calling all hams on DU
My wife and I are both ham radio operators
and are thinking of starting an HF Net for Peace.

Would anyone, ham or shortwave listener be interested?

2. thats the beauty of hf
at the right time and frequency, it doesn't take much
power. I usually operate qrp myself. I have a fair
antenna system now, so I might be able to hear
qrp from the west coast.

4. I can give it a shot
though after carefully tuning my antenna, 5 watts wouldn't reach 10 miles on any band (this isn't like a 2-mter repeater...)

When you schedule this, don't forget folks working regular hours on the West coast....

3. QST to all Amatuer Radio operators!!
This would be a great way to spread the message of peace from the people of America to the people of the world. Let them know that we are not all the warmongers our leaders are.

Anyone who wishes to participate can as long as they are with a licensed control operator so it can be a group thing at your location, too, and include family and friends.

5. Glad you brought up Ham Radios....Can Homeland Security shut you down
??? I've been wondering that ever since all this Patriot Act stuff came up and all those Orwellian things were passed w/ the Homeland Security Act (that all DUers tried to STOP!, btw.).

:kick::kick::kick: Kicking for the hammers.

6. Yes they can...Part 606 of the '34 Comms Act (as bastardized)
Supposedly part 606 (the rule they used to shut-down Ham Radio during WWII) was repealed before First Gulf, but Mikey giveth, and Mikey taketh away....

How long you suppose before the Good Murkan Curmudgeons found us and started life-testing their KW amps?
