On another note, I had a nice little surprise today.
I went shopping and found a new bra. I also found a pair of boot cut Levis on the clearance rack under $10- size 8. Dare I? Should I? I did dare. So I bought them. I get home and they fit!!! But alas, if my life were an easier because I am now a size 8 who has managed to keep her double D's (with a warm heart and alleged good sized IQ as well). It's not. Makes me feel a little better anyway.

In the immortal words of "Fernando" (SNL 1985) "It is better to look good than to feel good." It's not, but I can pretend for a moment like it is. :D

Anything good happen to brighten up your day?

2. I found a 2-bedroom bungalow for $65,000
I'm going to look at it tomorrow. It's in a little community out in the country a bit, but if it's in good shape then it's a steal. I live in an area where 2-bedroom homes sell for $100,000. I went and looked at the outside of it today and it looks to be in good shape and is surpringly big. Now if it looks good on the inside I'm going to make them an offer they can't refuse.

CONSIDERABLY!

Brains and a warm heart, to boot! :-)

This was "laundry night"... You can't imagine what it would take to brighten my day...

6. Thanks!
But that and a nickel won't even get me much LOL. Sometimes, I get a door opened fro me I suppose. :7

Laundry. Don't say laundry. Our dryer broke last week and we had to fork over a $150 for repairs today. Ouch! (Not to mention the whopping $15 dollars to wash 6 loads at a laundry mat yesterday while waiting.)

7. What goes wrong with a drier that costs $150?
I had to totally rebuild one once. $7 for the belt, $35 for the heating coils ("stove"), 5 bucks ea. for the 2 rollers....

Must have been the labour...

coils, thermometer, and labor (of course). Hubby tried, but it alluded him this time. He's better at plumbing I think.

16. Ummm, have you not heard of washing lines?
You know run a length of rope between two poles outside & hang washing to dry one it.

Cost a few bucks, nothing to repair & save energy.

(Apologies for the sarcasm if you live in a flat)

8. I finally got the deluxe version of Coltrane's "A Love Supreme"
with the second disc that's the ONLY live recording of the piece.

Woo hoo!!!!!!

And many congratulations to you!! I'm glad to hear that your weight contionues to go down. Woo hoo!!

What does double-D mean? I don't know bra rating terminology, though I did read about it a few months ago, but I forgot. I believe that cup sizes are always relative to something else, right? So women who are double-D don't necessarily have the same size breasts, just the same size breast relative to something else, right?

9. Yeah, well
I don't know why I wrote that. I guess I thought after children and losing my baby weight, I'd shrivel up or something and I didn't want that because I happen to appreciate my curves if that makes sense.

Yes, the actual breasts are bigger or smaller depending also on the chest measurement. Basically, in fitting a bra, you measure under the breasts and add 3 inches (that's the # part, 36 in my case now). Then you measure around the breasts. If it's 1 inch bigger than the chest- you're an A. Two inches- a B. Three inches- a C. Four inches- a D. Five inches- a DD (or E). Six inches- an F....and so on.

I suppose writing this could be considered gauche by some, but who cares? After nursing and also working with other moms to help them (and going into a medical field), I really don't get too uptight about the boob thing. Fun and functional I'd like to think anyway. Be proud and comfortable with who you are.

12. Darn right
Nothing wrong with talking about factual stuff, even if it relates to sex. We're WAY the hell too wound up in this country (and in Taliban, and other fundy countries/areas/neighborhoods of any religion) about sexual stuff, it drives me crazy.

Thanks for the lesson in bra sizing! It makes sense to me again.

Found out that virtually all of my relatives are coming to the first family reunion I am throwing on Memorial Day. Oh man, gonna be a helluva grocery bill this month...

Watched "Walking with Dinosaurs" with my son and then drew dinosaur pictures with him.

Heard that you found a nice pair of very attractive jeans to flatter your beauty...

All day brightening things.

And for what it's worth, whatever you're going through, you'll get through. I know it sounds like a platitude, but boy I went through some shit I never thought I'd survive, and I did, and I'm a better man for it. Just remember that you are a very special person. Love yourself and others will follow suit.

Peace and long life.

I spend lots of time drawing dinosaur pictures too. The big thing though is trains. My almost 3 year old son is obsessed with them and asks me to draw pictures of them, play with them with him, watch the movies. etc. It's fun anyway. :D

The waiting is the hardest part I hear and now I can say it's true. I can hear the second hand on the clock slowly ticking, ticking, ticking...etc!

Is it me or is my clock melting?

I really don't like to play with dolls! Despite what you may have heard. Who is Art and is he really excited? Around my house I would say that picture represents "Time to clean up another mess".

18. CONGRATULATIONS!!! GO YOU!!!
It's been really fun so far racing you down the scale. :)

My size 10s are starting to get loose and I've been putting off trying on 8s - I don't know why. Some sort of weird psychological barrier about being in single digits I'm sure. Anyway, thanks for letting us all know about your success. Maybe it'll help me get over it and go shopping. :)

21. two things have happened to brighten my day
Edited on Thu May-27-04 09:08 AM by buddhamama
the first was, i received the sweetest letter from a close friend that i don't speak to often enough to suit me. We're a pair, him and i, he is totally genuine, intelligent and kickass funny. Knowing such a wonderful person is in my life, even though we're far apart, makes life good.

the second thing to brighten my day,
i was informed that i'm going to be honored next friday at a community gathering for my volunteer work. (i'm not the only one a few other folks will be recognized too) it's not an ego thing, truly. it the desire to create well being, and have a positive impact.

Congrats to SarahBelle!!!

size 1 or higher, doesn't matter
Your inner beauty cannot be diminished by superficial standards. You're beautiful, always. :toast:

22. Congratulations SarahBelle!
On your continued weight loss. :bounce:

I was creeping up the scale toward the upper limit of my weight range. Mostly b/c I ate 4 desserts in one week! :silly: So I went back on induction this time last week and have dropped 3 lbs.

Right now, I'm a tight size 8, but if I drop another ten lbs, I'll be in the 6-8 size range. I'm on the 10,000 steps a day plan.

I've noticed the same thing with the breasts, though. In my younger days when I lost weight, a lot of my boobage would go with it. Make no mistake; At my skinniest, I was an 34A. I was never flat. I've always had great proportions. Maybe it's hormonal. These days I seem to be losing everywhere but my chest. LOL! I'm a 36B.
