Why I am sick of my office being in the basement.
Edited on Wed May-26-04 04:13 PM by MrsGrumpy
It is now 5:02 PM. I am working. Yes, dammit, I am. The kids have been home for exactly one and a half hours. During that time, it has sounded like there are major renovations going on upstairs. Stomping, screaming, pounding... I am slowly losing my fucking mind and just wanted to share.;)

...wishing my office was on a beach somewhere far far away...

4. my basement is too scary for an office.
Mine is in the old porch made into an office. At least there is light. I have to listen to Jedis blasting away though in my son's latest PC game.

17. Turn on your TV, Dear.
It's for Robertson County, Springfield, but I did not see which way it was moving. I guess I ought to go look. My son's plane is due in at 6:20. Hopefully he won't see cows flying as he descends.

18. Hope your son's plane misses the turbulance.
Went to wsmv, seems something's coming east from Jackson. I'm 6 days post-op, and trying to catch up on the DU news. I didn't think about a tornado. Thanks for the heads up!

19. What happened?
If that's not too personal. Hope it's not serious.

I think the warning for Springfield must have expired. The map looks like it is all north and east but moving our way. Aren't you in Dickson? My son was supposed to be here at 1:15 but of course he slept through the flight, despite two alarms and me calling every five minutes for over an hour.

I have been meaning to ask you again about that Amish store. I have some friends who want to take a field trip out there and I couldn't remember the name.

12. My mother's story.
My two brothers and I all came in less than four years (funny how they finally figured out contraception after that point). My mother said one day she had had all she could take. Our basement was not finished, really more of a crawl space. She said she was so desperate for some peace and quiet and then went under the house with a lawn chair and switched on the bulb hanging on a cord over her head. She said she sat there for a couple of hours, hearing our feet pounding up and down the house and little voices saying, "Daddy, where's Mommy?" She finally pulled herself together and reappeared but I know exactly what she was talking about. She always said just when they get to where you can stand them they move out. My boy is in the air now, coming home from California for a visit, and my girl will be coming from Louisiana on Saturday. Including my 13-year-old I will have all my chicks in the henhouse this weekend. I actually enjoy their company now!

13. Man, did I tell you that story before???
I have some vague memory of relaying that story to someone in the not too distant past. Sorry if I am boring you again!

PS - I work at home too - have for almost 20 years to be home with the kids. Sometimes I think it was the most stressful choice I could have made.
