Best graphics program
I am in the process of trying to make my website look better by adding some graphics. Which is the best graphical software to use. I know a lot of people use photoshop. What are some of the best ones in terms of ease of use?
Thanks DU!

1. It depends on what kind of graphics you're going to do
Photoshop is excelloent, but Adobe Illustrator is good too.

2. I vote Photoshop...
It has a great save for web feature that compresses your image files to a reasonable size.

6. Paintshop Pro is a good alternative
I've used it for years. I find Photoshop is overkill for what I do. Paintshop Pro has all the features but is lower cost and easier to learn. At least for me.

If you need to do professional layouts for print media then stick with Photoshop. If you just need a good tool for web graphics go with Paintshop Pro.

8. Second that.
Paint Shop is feature-laden and reasonably priced. Comes with a transparency-creating wizard, and a companion program called "Animation Shop" for making animated GIF's.

9. macromedia fireworks is the best all around imho..
you can build entire web sites, and export the code. It's really fun and intuitive. I use it for everything ranging from web site design to painting the cars and trucks I race online.

No slight against Photoshop, because anyone who has used it knows it is simply the most powerful graphic editing app in its class, but I feel you get more bang for your buck with Fireworks.

10. Fireworks is easier and cheaper than Photoshop
Although I prefer Photoshop, I think Fireworks is easier to use, and for most people can accomplish pretty much anything you need it to.
