Its golden brown, beautifully risen, and has just a touch of triple sec in the batter. Smells like heaven. I'm alone in the house and need HELP!

I have fresh sliced strawberries and vanilla yogurt...

4. Child, I have a freezer full of fresh vegetables put up last summer...
Maybe ratatouille made with last summers tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, zucchini and onions? I enjoy cooking for vegetarians occasionally...It can be a challenge to a traditional southern cook.

10. Have you ever heard of mayhaws?
Those wouldn't be fresh Louisiana berries you have, would they?

12. Got the berries at the market and didn't check but
they were beautiful so they're probably from Louisiana or Florida.

We finally cut down our Mayhaw in the back yard this winter. It was 12 years old, never produced any usable fruit, didn't have a scent, and was a thorny pain-in-the-ass. About 1/3 of it was dead. I only kept it so long because my mom loved it.

That said, I really love Mayhaw jelly. That on a buttered biscuit is just short of Nirvana. Thankfully, its available at the Farmers Market and the organic food co-op.

17. Well, if I get a decent crop, I'll let you know. I figure -
You might like to make your own jelly?

I just bought this place last year, my neighbors say they've been getting the berries for years.

You have a good source for Miss. peaches? I happened across some very tasty ones outside of Bay St. Louis last year.

Just some of the local farmers markets
You'd probably get better from the Bay St Louis area.

25. You know, Georgia peaches and all. But good Miss. peaches -
On the small side, and not just sweet, but somehow rich, too. Daytrip to Bay St. Louis.

18. Take the loaf of pound cake

Cut into thick slices (about the size of two or three slices
of sandwich bread). Arrange on a cookie sheet, turn on the oven
broiler and toast the pound cake... be careful not to burn it...
use the middle rack in the oven.

Now top with the yogurt (or ice cream) and strawberries.

Takes me back to my childhood.
