This Driver has no cash, he's MARRIED!!!
ROFLMAO! I saw this little gem on the bumper of an economy car a couple of hours ago and I'm still laughing. And what's REALLY funny is that, even though I'm a never-married single mama, I know just how very true that really is!

So, how about it, married guys and gals? Do you think there's any truth to that? Or dare I even ask such a question? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

1. My dad almost never has any money.
He carries a credit card, but if he needs cash, he has to ask my mom.

8. And how does he feel
about that (not that there'd likely be much he could do about it anyway, lol!)

9. Doesn't bother him at all.
Ever since I can remember, mom handled the money. Dad was gone a lot because of the military, so mom had to be on top of things.

11. Your dad was in the military?
Did he serve in combat?

In most of the marriages I've seen, the women are the ones in control of the money and paying the bills, etc. Frankly, the men seem to prefer it that way. It can be a problem when they get divorced, though.

12. I guess there are some advantages to being a lifelong bachelor.
I never got used to relying on an S.O. to do anything for me. I do my own cooking, laundry, bill-paying, etc. If I ever do get married, the woman may just be thrilled at how many of the responsibilities I'd be willing to handle myself!

15. True.
So many women seemed shocked that I can fend for myself. If I don't do my laundry, cooking, etc., no one else is going to do it for me.

16. Exactly!
Several years ago, a record-collector friend of mine, then in his late 50s, got divorced. For the first time in his life, there was no woman around to take care of the man. (Before he got married at 21, his mother always did things for him.) And boy, was he lost! Poor guy didn't even know how a microwave oven worked. I felt quite sorry for him, but at the same time I thanked my lucky stars that I'd never be that way.

19. Well, considering that both you and Dean
("David and Dean"-sounds like a 50's musical duo, lol!) are in your mid-to-late 30's, I would certainly hope that you could do most things for yourself! I sure wouldn't want to see your living abode if you couldn't.

21. Well, there is that....
If it comes down to either mopping the kitchen floor or downloading MP3s, and there's nobody around to kick me in the butt....

Guess I better marry a woman with pointy-toed shoes!

14. No, he was not in combat.
He got his start as a cook at flight kitchens. Then he got into management of dining facilities.

They would pay bills together, but mom controlled the day to day finances.

30. There's a reason for that.
While I sometimes can have an infinite amount of patience, it goes right down the tubes when dealing with Customer Service.

It takes everything you have to keep from going postal on the phone.

The sacrifices it can entail both personally and financially are at times enough to drive a sane person completely looney!

25. Geez, I'm child-free, but I still don't have money.
I have a job that pays an ostensibly living wage, but by the time I've finished paying the rent, lights, cable, phone, car insurance, groceries, and other assorted expenses, I'm lucky to have enough cash in hand for a damned candy bar. Stupid capitalism!

27. We been together for over 20 years.
It's just our personal preference. Mr SWFL Dem has a need to have cash in his wallet. I could go for a week with less than $10 and not be bothered. As long as I have a checkbook, debit and credit cards, I am fine. The only problems occur when hubby is out for the night, the kid wants pizza and I have to raid his piggy bank to pay for it.

All our accounts are joint. We agree on most financial issues. It has taken some time to reach that point, but it is nice to be there

28. That's good, because I know that
money and financial matters are major, major problem areas in a marriage when there's disagreement over who handles it and how it should be handled.
