8. Go wireless.
Get a wireless router. You'll be amazed at being able to sit on your couch and surf, check emails, chat over IM, etc... All with no wires. I honestly have a hard time using a desktop now. Feels very restrictive.

15. Dell SUCKS! (pardon my Freedom but I recently studied some laptops)
I much prefer the IBM T41. Those Dells get rather warm. The T41 remains cool. And IBM allows the use of PC2700 RAM in the model. The T41 also has a patented feature that will turn off the hard drive if it senses momentum (e.g. you drop it).

I don't know if they've improved, but 8 years ago I had to use their support people with an ailing hard drive. They said there was no problem with the drive. Well, I'm glad I thought there was and backed up the surviving data because the hard drive crashed'n'burned 2 DAYS later. (And unlike myself, THEY had certifications! This proves you don't need a Freedoming piece of paper to be useful.)

Dell's a repuke company anyway. (Okay, who isn't these days, but I thought I'd mention it?)
