What's worse about IT:
#1: * Microsoft's dominance combined with the amount of viruses and worms written for it

or

#2: * How corporate america is devaluing the industry? In all the want ads I've been reading, jobs seem to be worth 50% of what they used to pay yet stores like CompUSA and Best Buy's Geek Squad have kept their prices as high as ever (I wonder how much the techs get, very little I suppose...)

I've mixed feelings about #2; if IT is to be devalued then it gets devalued all the way. And it shouldn't be devalued.

As for #1, Microsoft may make things easier for the creeps, but if any platform had enough of an installed userbase, some creep would engineer a virus for it too.

So the worst thing about IT is #2.

1. #2
Same story in Europe - OK not quite as bad, as there is still zero unemployment for IT-Specialists with a degree.
But the direction is clear: (far-)eastward Ho!.
