I paid off my capital one accounts, closed them and cut up the cards!

No more Capital one calls from India. No more bogus charges for being late or using the wrong bank account number.

Last month I made a mistake entering my bank account number when I made an on line payment to Capital one. They called me from India a week after wanting me to make a payment because I was over my limit? I thought I had made my scheduled payment but Oh No! I got a $29 late charge, which caused a $29 over limit charge and a $29 bad check charge.

Well that was all my fault but they will never get a cent out of me again.

1. What's in your wallet?
Usually I don't say this, but if there was ever a company that should be investigated it should be Capitol One!

7. I HATE THAT PHRASE!!!!!!!
"What do you have in your wallet?"
I reply: "A picture of your mother blowing a goat!"
Of course my wife looks at me like I'm nuts, but it makes me feel better by venting.

2. Make Sure They're Closed
I closed my Capital One account three years ago. Six months later, I got a phone call from them - they claimed that I had been charged the annual fee before they closed it, and that I had to pay it AND late charges. So I paid it, and the same thing happened a year later.

I think it's a scam......

9. They did this to me too!
After some financial problems, my husband and I got hoodwinked with opening up accounts with them with a $200.00 limit. Right after that my brother-in-law died in Kentucky and it was over a holiday weekend (July 4th) so we couldn't get any cash on Friday before we drove to Louisville. We used the card to buy gas twice each way and it didn't come near $200.00. We started paying it off. I cancelled the cards several months later but they said we owed them $120.00 for the annual fee on the two cards. I gripped about it then they started charing us interest on the cards.

5. AUGH! My husband had it out with them
He actually threatened to get a lawyer involved (OK, there's an empty threat if I've ever heard one...) when they kept trying to charge him $60 for an annual fee *for a card he had cancelled twice.* Normally, this would be not that big of a deal and water under the bridge, but we applied for a mortgage and this stupid $60 thing popped up on our credit report.

All's well that ends well, and we did get a letter of apology out of them and our credit straightened out as a result, but AUGH!! The absolute WORST co. to deal with!!!
