9. 1) Sen. Don Nickles. 2) Abe Lemons
Edited on Wed May-19-04 02:32 PM by TheWizardOfMudd
If you understand who Abe Lemons was, you'll believe me when I tell you that there were 10,000 people simultaneously rolling in the aisles with laughter.

Notable Abe Lemons quotes:

Legendary University of Texas basketball coach Abe Lemons was never at a loss for a wisecrack. He once reprimanded his starting center for grabbing only one rebound in the first half of a game. "That's one more rebound than a dead guy."

With his stellar 599-343 career win-loss record, legendary college basketball coach Abe Lemons left many opponents in the dust - even at Christmas. "I hope they notice the mistletoe tied to my coattails as I leave town!"

Abe Lemons was fiercely proud of his Oklahoma heritage. Speaking to Howard Cosell, Lemons stated, "You may be big in New York, but in Walters, Oklahoma you're nobody!"

"I don't jog. If I'm going to die, I want to be sick!"

Well, maybe you had to be there.

10. speaker
We had George Bush I. College of William and Mary, class of 1995.
Yuck. He gave his thousand points of light speech. A bunch of us were trying to get Hillary Clinton but to no avail.

15. Welcome to DU!
Bush the Elder spoke at the Texas A&M graduation in 1989. I missed him by a year, thank goodness.

His library is there, though. :puke:

Welcome again. :hi:

16. The Honrable Harry A. Blackmun spoke at my graduation
fromn law school. It was the year of he announced his retirement from the Court, and he honored us with his speech despite an abundance of requests for him to speak publicly. To say it was a treat to have this great man speak on a day of such import to me personally is to give new meaning to understatement.
