Edited on Wed May-19-04 01:39 PM by Screaming Lord Byron
I can't choose between the two. You must do this for me. You must!

41. France. LOVE the CHEESE.
Love the wine.
Love the men.
Love the women...
love the art.
love the music.
love the food!
love the south of france.
love Versailles
love Marsailles

The Eiffel Tower? Champs Elysees? The Louvre?

France is the very heartbeat of civilization.... there is no country more deep, mysterious, austere, ostentatious, exquisite, appropriately arrogant... and french bread is WAY better than italian...

culturally and gastronomically. And I've been all over both countries.

9. I said France, but...
...now I'm not sure. Chicks are hot in both places. France had better Romantic Philosophy, but Germany had better Romantic Poetry. They also had that bit of unpleasantness.

at the English Garden park (in the middle of the city). Once saw a buck naked stud of a man too with an itsy, bitsy you-know-what. Just walking around. Amazing.

11. Have to go with Germany.
J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Carl Orff, Kurt Weill, Nietzsche, Kant, Hegel, Leibniz, Marx, Einstein, Karl Benz, Heinrich Heine, Herman Hesse, Thomas Mann, Erich Maria Remarque, Rilke, Wim Wenders, KMFDM, Einstürzende Neubauten...as much as the French like to make of their cultural significance, I think Germany has the edge overall.

19. Je prefere la France. Mes raisons ne sont pas rationnels
I would prefer France. My reasons aren't that rational: I just think that France has better weather and because I do speak some French.

Hopefully, Dubya and a lot of other reactionaries will be defeated this November, and we can think of only visiting either France or Germany, and not of actually having to move to either country.

28. France, definitely
France is more beautiful than Germany. It has celebrated art and culture for at least 500 years. It has the best cooking as well as the best wines, cheese, vegetables; the language sounds like music; their culture has always been more accepting of minorities than German culture; they are less likely to worship their leaders; they have an anarachistic streak in them that is more fun-loving than political; they are not a rigid people.

The grub is tasty and hearty.

On edit: by good I mean that they are not the assholes that some try to make them out to be. As long as you remember to address people in the proper form and are punctual, they'll like you.

38. how about the Alsace
that province that was endlessly traded back and forth. That is where a bunch of my ancestors were from. That way you don't have to choose. Germany does have some good points, after all.

Lived in Germany and appreciated it greatly, but France inspires great passions.

Great beer, great national soccer team, great sausages, and one country I have never been too. I would love to check out Berlin sometime. I also have a small crush on Franka Potente. The girl from "Run Lola Run".

53. Having neutrality bred into my bones, how about
Switzerland? You get both German and French, as in language, food, etc., and when you get tired of either you can always go to the Italian or Romantsch speaking parts.

When I grew up we would often go and have breakfast at the revolving tower in Stuttgart and the go to the Alsace for lunch and be home for dinner.

Anyway, if all goes well, I,LL be in Burgundy in a couple of weeks. Yeah

I had a German roommate who drank beer out of a cow's horn.

My French roommate just left skid-marked underwear on the bathroom floor and made spaghettit with ketchup packets from McDonalds. Useless.
