My God! My cat Evita gave me a scare last night!!!!!!!
Edited on Wed May-19-04 06:55 AM by LynneSin
I usually sleep through the night but something got me away around 1am in the morning. I looked at the window sill behind my bed and there was both Evita and Abbott (my cats) sitting there right next to each other.

Or so I thought....

It turns out that Evita some how ripped the bottom of the screen on the window and got outside the apartment (I'm on the 2nd floor). Luckily there are no trees or other tall objects nearby that she could have leaped onto. Fortunately, they had not replaced the screen on the 2nd window behind my bed and I was able to reach out a grab a very very scared cat and bring her back inside.

Damn, I don't want to lose my Evita. I closed my bedroom window so only about 2 inches were opened, small enough that neither cat could get through.

3. Cats do that.
For whatever reason, probably because they see something interesting, they try to get out of the house, and often succeed. I remember our cats always pushing on screens, trying to get out. When we first screened our patio, the biggest cat got out in a day or so. We had to reinforce the screen with chicken wire.

4. You'll Go Broke
Trying to predict what a cat will do and trying to prevent it.

All you can do is trust their judgment and work from that.

6. Ricky Retardo tore the screen to get IN!
One day when I came home from work, the little snot darted out the door. I looked everywhere, called him, set out food, put up signs. I was heartbroken. Day after day the food went untouched.

4 days later, at 3 freaking am, I heard his quiet little whine. I sat bolt upright in bed and he hopped up next to me. First of all, he'd been missing, second -- how the heck did he get in????? I was in shock but I hugged him so tightly.

He tore the screen on the Arizona room and came in through the kitty door. What a little monster.

Here he is....
