What's in your CD changer?
Right now I have four discs in:

Marianne Faithful's "Broken English"
Paul McCartney's "Best of..."
Eminem's "The Slim Shady LP"
and...
Cyndi Lauper's "At Last"

The last spot is empty. Given what's already there, what should I put in?

3. And I'd rather stab my eardrums than listen to Marianne Faithful.
Or Cyndi Lauper.

6. Listen to "At Last"
it's a tribute to great Pop/Jazz music sung by a chick with a set of pipes that won't quit.

Let him go.

Go toward the light, Morrissey! Go! Grandma's calling!

7. Nothing.
I have an MP3 player, and I get my music for free. :)

Seriously, though, why pay for what you can get for free?

26. Cool
So since I know how to steal a car, you won't mind if I take yours?

After all, why pay for what I can get for free.

Now a lot of people will say the car analogy is false, as the MP3 is merely an imperfect copy of the original. However, this is a question of whether or not you were willing to pay for something to acquire the right to use it. Since you are not willing to pay for a reproduction of the song, you are not entitled to use it. There is one caveat of course: that is if the artist has determined that you may in fact download the material. There are plenty of musicians who do do this in fact, there's material freely and legally available all over the web.

Know, I have no idea what kind of music you listen to, but imagine this: your favorite musician is an artist who is dependant upon record sales as well as touring to survive and be able to continue to put the time and effort required into making their art. All of a sudden, people stop buying this artist's records, but instead download them. Now the artist is still making money off tours, but since they have lost one of their other sources of income, they must take a "day job" in order to continue to provide food and shelter for themselves and/or loved ones/family. As a result of this "day job", they no longer have the energy or time to pour themselves into their creative arts as they did before. You, the listener are then deprived of listening to the artists new music, as a direct result of illegal MP3 downloading.

I suspect that no argument will change your mind, but what the hell, it's worth a shot.

Out of curiosity, what do you do for a living?

9. Musicology...
just got it. I like it.

I drive my students nuts - they never know what I'll be playing. One day it's Ella, another Vaughan Williams, another Clapton or Queen.

21. Hmm..
Listening to a few tracks off NIN's "Still" CD.
-Adrift and at Peace
-Gone, Still
-The Persistence of Loss
-Leaving Hope

Very short instrumentals, very depressing. Sometimes you need to listen to sad music to flush the depression out of your system, or so there's my theory to it.

27. Max Tundra-Mastered by guy at the exchange
Beautiful disc, no real words to describe the kind of music it is. Maybe, electronic-pop-funk-love-groovy-quirky-tunes.

Failing that, Manitoba-Up in Flames, Lighting Bolt-Ride the Skies or possibly Thelonius Monk-Misterio.
