What the @#$% is an Army Financial Specialist Degree??
My godchild is entering the army in June (yikes!). Her mother tells me that she'll be getting her education in the US toward a financial specialist degree. I can't figure out what this means. Is this something specific to the Army? Will someone please tell me more about this?:eyes:

1. It could be some sort of Community College associates degree

When I was in the Air Force the education office on base wouldn't let me register for my last semester of BA classes until I had registered for classes to complete some long forgotten associates degree.

2. I don't know much about the military...
But lots of things that they do are an oxymoron. They have to come with with fancy words that don't mean a damn thing like "Total Situational Awareness".

3. Sounds like a euphemism for "accountant"
Which is not a bad thing, in my book, being one myself.

ZZZzzzzz.

It's like a BA or BS Degree from college with practical experience in dealing with corporate assholes.

"The Money Is There But That Asshole Is Tight" sort of situation.

Matcom or HawkerHurricane has been there and can answer your questions better than I ever could.

Please ask them for informed advice.

6. Not so good with Army questions...
being a Navy man and all.

But it sounds like the Army's "get your degree while you serve" program for a accounting type degree. Make sure it translates to credits that a regular college would accept; it's rough having a military 'AA' degree that no college will count toward your BA...

5. MOS 73C - Finance Specialist
Edited on Tue May-18-04 10:52 PM by patriotvoice
Essentially, by working as MOS73C while enlisted, you may earn college credit through the Army Career Degrees Program from a hundred or so colleges.

Think of an Army Financial Specialist Degree as civilian proof that you were an MOS73C.
