COURTNEY LOVE'S MANGA



One of rock’s more celebrated bad girls is looking to stake out a little territory in comics, and she’s aiming for the widest possible audience currently in the medium – Courtney Love is writing manga for Tokyopop.

The project is entitled Princess Ai, and follows a princess from Ai (you saw that coming, right?) who comes to Tokyo looking for solutions to her homelands’ troubles, try to understand her own strange powers, as well as to avoid assassins who are on the prowl for her. Think of Stranger in a Strange Land, with the strange land being Tokyo.

While in Tokyo, Ai looks to support herself the only way she knows how – by making music. Ai’s talent rockets her into superstardom, with all of its blessings and curses, as well as a potential solution to the problems faced by her homeland.

But yeah – that’s all kind of secondary. Back to the Courtney factor.
