I feel stupid.
At my current job, I had been confused about how to schedule hours since there is variability. I signed up for my training hours. When I finished, I assumed that these training hours carried over to my regular hours. But I was wrong and I needed to fill out a new hours form. Then I was under the impression that I needed to fill out a new one every week to sign up for my hours for that week. Fair enough. But on saturday, I saw that the hours that I usually take were not available so I thought I had to sign up for the evening hours this week to get hours. So I came in this evening and was told that I was supposed to work this afternoon and not tonight. I was so confused, appearently they go with the hours that I have taken. I was told to talk to the girl who does scheduling. So I added another shift to my schedule for this week. I hope they are not mad. I don't think that they are. It is a fundraising job that is mostly part time and many people work there. It just makes me feel irresponsable. I told someone and they didn't seem to think it was that big a deal. I hope it is not. I just hope that this does not hurt me for the duration of the time I have this job, however long this is. I really don't like feeling like and irresponsable idiot.

Don't worrry
you certainly sound like a very responsible person to me. Just explain what you said here.

One suggestion I might make, be sure to ask questions to be sure of when you work. Don't think it makes you appear stupid if you ask questions on a job. People just don't think and assume you know something you don't so they may not tell you vital information. So if this should show you anything, it should show you that you need to be sure of your hours ahead of time.

:-)

1. You are not an irresponsible idiot.
Sounds a little confusing to me, too. So you made a mistake. That happens. You're human aren't you? You'll make a lot more as you go thru life. Now buck up, kid. You're ok.

2. True.
Most jobs, you look at a schedule and are given the hours from week to week if it is a variable schedule. If you need a day off you ask for it (generally two weeks in advance).

Then there is the regular working hours job. It is a given when you are supposed to be there and so you go. On time.
