She is actually a pretty conservative person...probably more of a DLC Dem than anything. She was on Politically Incorrect a year or so before arguing that marijuana should still be illegal, and that the drug war was just.

Then she came out against the war, but her reasons were really interesting and ones that I would have thought conservatives could have cut her slack on. She said that as a mother she couldn't stand the notion of the innocent children dying. I've known ALOT of mothers who were usually conservative say this.

Those guys are old-school leftists in the Woody Guthrie tradition (Gilmore is country's only practicing Buddhist, and studied under Allen Ginsberg).
