I hate hate hate UPS!!!!

I just spent an hour on the phone with these idiots...

After promising me that would indeed deliver a package yesterday (that I desperately needed), AND showing it on the truck for delivery, AND having that corroborated by THREE phone calls to the dispatch center, it never showed up. After FOUR more calls this AM it appears that it is sitting at Dulles Airport, but I can't go pick it up because it is in a locked delivery truck and NOBODY who is working there has any keys!!

Can you f@#(ing believe that? In all of northern VA there is not ONE supervisor who is on call for a weekend who has keys??

It will be a cold day in hell before I EVER use these clowns again.

1. We are having trouble getting reliable service from the US Postal Service

for the third time in as many years, a package (priority mail, no less) has been lost between there and here. Am getting to wonder if someone isn't intercepting and keeping packages, as I have heard the same complaint from a couple of others (in a community of 1500) for packages which came from the same area.

Our UPS drivers are the best around here, but it's a small town and they have known everyone for ages. Sorry UPS in your area is iffy.

2. The drivers are fine

I live in a small town as well, and they know the area. However, they start their routes in a very populated area, and the "outskirts" are always the last stop (read: we get screwed).

It is well known that the UPS tracking /delivery system in inept - ever try and contact a shipping hub DIRECTLY? Impossible. FedEx will at least allow you to go the center (if there truly is a problem) - they probably even have keys...

3. I ditched UPS for Fedex 3 yrs ago

Never looked back. Here in Canada Fedex have partnerships with local delivery companies so packages get delivered a lot faster than if you relied solely on the UPS network.

4. UPS won't deliver packages to my house...

...unless someone is there to sign for them, even if a signature isn't required for the package. We had one shipment stolen in four years of living at this house. I can't even get the manager of the local UPS terminal to call me. I've stopped shipping everything I can through them, and as the default shipping clerk for my lab I have begun asking my vendors to not use UPS.
